As a three year, two of which were IV, meth addict I'm starting to really feel the damage. I've been completely clean for two weeks after a bad binge, and though I've read methamphetamine doesn't cause physical withdrawals like heroin, I still get these horrid cravings. I'm just wondering when they stop. I've noticed a lot of improvements, and I'm starting to get my personality back and remember who I am. :D:D:D But subconsciously, I'm still anticipating that next high. I guess after living from high to high for years it's hard to break that habit. Mentally the withdrawals are killing me; whenever you start to crave what do you do to get through it? Today has been the hardest out of these two weeks, I have no support in my life because no one knows that I'm an addict (Well, its not out in the open) and I hate not being able to talk to people about it. I feel like that would make it easier. Any advice is appreciated, or just someone to talk to.

Congratulations on your two weeks!!! That's great! Cravings are tough. Some things that helped me in early recovery were maintaining a regular schedule for wrong me sleep. I would go to bed early and wake up early regardless of why else I had planned for the day. I found creating a new routine was really helpful. I would wake up, make the bed, have coffee and read news for 30 min, then shower and get dressed. A new routine helps to break old habits and associations, and create new ones.

I also found that eating on a regular schedule kept me from getting hungry. Many times if I got hungry I would get cravings. Try eating healthy - clean. Fresh whole foods.

Keep yourself occupied, try to avoid having too much unstructured time. Keep yourself busy. I would plan my days and make sure I had stuff to fill my time. I was broke back then, so I scheduled a lot of walks at the park, housekeeping, errands. I actually learned how to cook really well because it would take longer and gave me something productive to do in the evenings.

Try not to let yourself get triggered. Remove anything that reminds you of using from plan view in your house if possible. Try to break associations that remind you of meth. I actually rearranged the furniture in my house so I didn't have the same views as when I was using. I did my bedroom first so I had a new view when I woke up in the morning. Sounds silly but it really helped.

That's all I can think of for now. Again, congratulations on your to weeks! Feel free to pm me if you have questions or need to vent. Good luck!

Also, cravings do not last as much as we think they do.
Replace the live one day at a time to an hour at a time.
Establish a specific period and postpone it. You'll feel much better tomorrow.
It happens to all of us!
