What's your favorite sport to watch vs. your favorite to play

Theres a lot of sports other than just baseball soccer football and basketball

Personally I like watching skateboarding the most. I love doing weightlifting but could never watch a weightlifting competition.

IMO the most boring sport to watch is soccer. They just run back and fourth across the field for 2 hours to score like 2 goals

Theres some sports that are fun to play but are so boring to watch. Which do you find most entertaining vs. which do you like to play most

Edit: if you enjoy watching soccer (football), where are you from? I've found that most Americans don't enjoy watching soccer, but the same doesn't hold true for other parts of the world

like playing football (soccer). but dont like watching it because i find it quite boring

watching: soccer/american football >>>> baseball >>> everything else

playing: everything, really

For sport I prefer things I can do alone... like cycling and I'm just getting into running...

for watching... rugby :D:D:D Can't wait for the world cup even tho we will lose.

right. and the mona lisa is just a painting of a lady and a sunset at the golden gate bridge is just the sun going down by a bridge...

i find, in general, that many of my u.s. friends don't like soccer because it's 'boring'. it seems like a simplistic analysis but perhaps their tv-dominated, short-attention-span psyches can't appreciate the subtle beauty of a 0-0 draw.

my favourite sports to watch are american football, baseball, golf and snooker. my favourite sports to play are golf and snowboarding.

my favourite sports to watch are those shown when the olympics is broadcasted because they are always so interesting

i love playing badminton because i'm good at it and have a really competitive nature

@ people dissing soccer, you have to really understand the game to appreciate how beautiful it is to watch

what else is the Mona Lisa besides a painting? And what else is the sun setting at the golden gate bridge besides a sun set?

And if soccer isn't a bunch of guys running back and fourth not scoring any goals then what is it? I don't see why I should be criticized for my opinion, and obviously many other's opinions as well.

Nice! Someone who enjoys lifting those darn weights. How do you start to enjoy it? It's perhaps my most hated activity next to running. It just feels so static. Please, please, please, tell me how to enjoy it, and I will be grateful for the rest of my life. :-)

I enjoy playing golf, if that is considered a sport. I don't have the time to do it while school is on though. The sport I love the most is cross country skiing. During the summer I even go on roller skiing. It's a great exercise. It shapes your whole body. The only thing missing is to gain some bigger muscles, but I really find it hard to get motivated for that nasty gym...

I watch soccer, like so many other Europeans. Next to the NHL it is pretty much the only sport I enjoy watching, unless I have a bet on some random match/sport.

The only Americans I know that love watching soccer, are people who play it actively. That's too bad, because you are all missing a sport that is able to burst your emotions. :-)

Watch- Football
Play- To me a sport is something that you do to compete against others and have a winner/loser. So things that I do like snow/wakeboarding, lifting weights ect arent sports to me. However I know there are some people that do compete in these activities and for them Id agree it is a sport. That being said, the sports that I like to play are soccer and disc golf.

I love my NBA as well, but I also love playing basketball when I get the chance. I can't dribble or juke for shit, but I developed a nice shot in my juvie days.

The only competitive sport I ever played an official game in was Lacrosse. I sucked, but it was still fun. I hate ESPN's highlight lacrosse plays, because with some knowledge of how the game actually works I know that I could launch a ball 80 yards in the air and score a goal at 11 years old. Around the back passing is also standard Middle School lacrosse shit. They never show things that are truly impressive, like catching a ball in mid-air and scoring a goal faster than the goalie can blink.

I never got the chance to play football, as I got kicked out of school before the season began (it was a private one, I live in South Florida and wouldn't dare try out for a public school team at my level of athleticism) but from how I did in practice it looked like it was going to be the sport I was best at. I really wish I had my shit together for at least enough time to make it through one season. I came out there ready to murder everyday.

But as an adult, I don't like the idea of playing football with friends without pads anymore. Somebodies neck is gonna get broke.

q.e.d.

if you take a reductionist viewpoint, you can describe absolutely anything as "just" something.

you are correct - the mona lisa is a painting. but to ask "what else is the Mona Lisa besides a painting?" is, in a way, to miss the whole point of art. so you just see a painting. to many others it's a fascinating work of art which, through ambiguity and subtlety, asks many questions and enigmatically provides few answers.

for many millions of people across the globe, soccer is also a work of art - a game in which a scoreless draw often contains subtlety and beauty which isn't immediately apparent to an unfamiliar, casual observer.

to many millions a game can be the mona lisa. to you, they "just run back and fourth across the field for 2 hours to score like 2 goals".

i'm not criticising you. i'm simply inviting you to consider that there may be more to it that meets your eye.

I like that post. I don't like soccer or the Mona Lisa, and cannot appreciate their aestheticism. I've given both their chances, but just don't get it. On the other hand, I respect people's ability to appreciate what I don't see.

Not a fan of Baseball or Hockey either. Baseball is where I draw the line of appreciation, at least from a viewers perspective. Maybe this sport was entertaining 50 years ago, but with Football and Basketball, and perhaps soccer, where they are right now, I don't see how anybody can waste so much time on that shit.

I like going to Canes baseball games and having a beer or two, but I can hardly pay attention everything moves so slowly.

Maybe I just hate baseball so much because of how much The Marlins have fucked my football up. Fucking dirt on the infield for half the season, getting my Dolphins and Canes injured, and then they tear down one of the great football stadiums of all time in The Orange Bowl to build some bullshit stadium for the Marlins on the taxpayers dime in a city that only cares about 1 and a half sports, baseball not being one of them.

get rid of spotters. Make it so that it's just you versus the bar. Load the bar heavy and do sets of 4-6 reps. Grunt throughout the set. Once you've finished the set, throw the bar down as if you've just come all over it.

Repeat three more times.

You have to be consistent with it, even if you hate it at first. Challenging myself to reach a goal, and learning how to exercise efficiently and effectively to reach that goal is almost like a game to me. Also, one of the main factors that dictates how much you improve in the gym is nutrition, so figuring out how to properly diet to meet your goals is another important aspect. After putting so much time and effort into learning how to train properly, i find I enjoy it immensely now, favorite part of my day no doubt.

The biggest thing is to keep at it until you see improvement.

Alasdairm I definitely get what your saying about soccer being an art and such. I don't want you to think I was trying to bash your sport or anything (since you soccer fans are fuckin serious about your sport), I personally, no matter how many times I've watched it, it just can't hold my interest. But I'm not saying soccer is a shitty sport or w.e

like playing no sports in real life unless you consider off roading in landrovers a sport, but love mma, ufc strikeforce and a good game of virtual tennis on the 360
