Whats the safety/physiological FX of Clonazepam/Klonopin oral tabs taken sublingually

I have some questions about (long term) sublingual administration of oral clonazepam tablets:

*) If the oral tablet is taken sublingually what prevents the filler from being absorbed?

*) Would the filler be absorbed (it appears to disappear too) and;

*) if so is it unhealthy (corrosive etc) to absorb the filler into the blood stream like that, especially long term?

*) is it any different for the liver to metabolize? (is it harder on the liver this way? not assuming it ever is)

*) If it is supposed to be metabolized in the liver how can have its' effects so rapidly this way?

*) What is the equivalent dose of 1mg clonazepam vs. lorazepam or alprozolam?

*) Are there any downsides to taking it sublingually rather than orally?

1mg clonazepam is equal to 2mg lorazepam, and 1mg alprazolam, but each affects me differently...

I personally prefer alprazolam, with lorazepam and clonazepam following respectively...

There is really no downside to SL administration of benzos. The only difference is that they kick in a little quicker, and have a slightly larger area under the curve. It might wear off slightly quicker, but mead duration shouldn't be effected much at all. The only difference is that with SL administration, you skip having to wait for the pills to be broken down by stomach acids and pancreatic juices and for them to drop into your intestines. After this, whatever is leftover will cross your mucous membranes in your intestines just as they would under your tongue...The only time you need to worry about binders and fillers are when you're injecting them into a muscle, a vein, or just under your skin, because there is nothing to filter them out in this manner.

The only other downside I can think of to SL'ing benzos are the tastes of them (other than clonazepam, which, with some manufacturers, taste rather minty...I used to SL them like they were hard candies).

edit: also, on those equivalent dosages...while those are correct dosage conversions (without factoring for incomplete cross-tolerance), clonazepam takes longer to kick in and lasts longer, while the other two kick in quickly and have a bit more of a punch to them. Lorazepam has also been shown to have greater prevalence of amnesia following dosing.
