Hi all.

I've been trying to find answers online but haven't had any luck at all. It's kinda a weird question...

My brother is 35 and is an active IV heroin user.

When he's high, he makes all these weird noises, movements.. he will start to hit himself randomly, sing, cry etc etc... I'm in recovery, I did use heroin, but was never like this. He straight up looks like a crazy person who needs to be in a padded room...

He has been using for a very long time, and it only has seem to have gotten worse over the years.

Does anyone even know what it's called?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Airy the human brain is a very complex and fragile organ, introducing a foreign substance into it repeatedly over a long period of time is not always a good idea, i guess your brother became sensitive to heroin over time and is simply asking for help, it happen to me before with benzos, at first they were grate but later i began to get very fucked up with amazingly small amounts and doing stupid stuff that i forgot the next day was common. my advice is for him is to stop or to switch to another opiate and see what happens ,
cheers

My brother does the same shit... Ill be sittin there fine albeit a little fucked up of course, and he'll be stripping himself down to his boxers dripping with sweat and hopping around like a bunny while making pig noises. Yea, i have the video of that one if anyone wants to see it haha

He takes Xanax daily, takes other opiates and subs in between he gets really fucked up. He'll take whatever he can, crack, pills, whatever what will get him high (and I get that, I was there once too) ... It's just when he's on dope, it's like I can see his body breaking down ... It's really sad. My other brother just died a few months ago (od), and a part of me is just asking myself, when is he next :(

damn bro I feel for you and your situation. My best friend Died to a drug related Incident but not and od. I would say just never give up on your brother no matter what happens and try and get him sober. I hope it is not to late, goodluck friend.

Are you sure your brother is only using heroin? No stimulants or other kinds of drugs? Maybe he is experiencing non-drug related psychosis and needs to see a psychiatrist. Would he go to see one if you asked him when he was not in that state of mind?

My guess is a stimulant or like said before psychosis. That's not normal and crazy to be around, weird energy.

Maybe the pig/weird noises ppl are referring to are a form of (perhaps opiate induced) sleep/breathing disorder, sounds like Catathrenia.

Carrie Fisher's official cause of death of sleep apnea, despite the drugs in her system.

I knew a few young heroin//opiate users that developed sleep apnea.

When I would get really high and stuck in a nod that I would fight it in most cases fearing overdose, this would translate into me making all types of weird movements.

^Good point and also a good warning for anyone trying to get information from a forum on the internet--remember we are all just guessing! The best thing you can do with your brother is to keep the lines of communication open and speak about your fears.
