What's a Purple Heart??

Just a question- what does it mean when they use the term Purple Heart to describe some kind of drug?? I always thought it was acid- but I was reading this book- and it said something like.. she had lots of drugs in her, purple heart, LSD,... blah blah blah

I am not exactly sure cuz it was a while ago. But my friend gave me a couple purple hearts when I lived in Germany. They came in pill form. I do believe, if I am not mistaken, that PH's are a certain type of downer. I took them and didnt feel shit for a while, then I slept for 13 hours....LOL....

. Would you call that a downer? uhhhh....I dunno.
