I just got another track mark from sticking a vein I've never tried before. I didn't even inject I just tried to register blood & I failed & now I have a red line about an 1in long. I also have other old lines too that don't seem to be going away. Is there something I can rub on them to lessen the appearance? Someone help my arms look awful.

Mine too and I've tried all kinds of ointments, vitamin E oil etc.... to reduce their appearance and nothing really worked for me.Time away from the needle will reduce how bad they look to some degree but I think you're gonna have tracks to some degree for life.Sorry to tell you that but that's kinda how it goes.

use the stuff that women use for stretchmarks after having a baby.. it might help, but might take a while to. As long as it gets rid of them tho it worth it.
I have scars from IVing 4x day for a long time 2x each location (crook of elbow) [been off the needle for bout 2 year] but they are only noticeable by nurses when getting blood drawn, i say.. "yep have just a little bit of experience with needles" if they notice the scars, and they usually just laugh and dont care.

if it really bothers you, i'd look into an amputation.

if stopping sticking needles into the spot, and vitamin e doesn't help.

Lol hdoubleo... i went to get blood drawn recently and the nurse was so nice she kept calling all my tracks bug bites... lmfao. I had to tell her where to go too cuz she couldnt find a vein

A red line 1 inch long? What you've done is, as you've pulled out you've slid the point away from the track scraping your arm. 1 shot is not going to cause a permanent mark, and if you're so frightened by that thought why are you fucking around with syringes anyway?

I don't know but it would probably be the same as for any other kind of scars. Just use something that reduces scars, I think they have like an ointment that you can use. Or maybe an anti-wrinkle cream would work, I don't know much about heroin and probably have no business on here, but that would be my guess because I do know a little bit about medicine, not a lot or anything but a bit just from reading on the internet and stuff.

You really shouldn't have a track mark from one attempt on a vein that doesn't have prior use...

I rotated injection sites for every shot and used sterile, correct technique and while I have some light scarring now I never had any noticeable tracks.

What are you injecting? Are you struggling to IV correctly?

Arnica gel, find it at holistic/health food/GNC type stores. Get the topical. It sometimes, for me often, resolved nasty bruises in a couple days. Amazing stuff. First learned about it here in 2011.

^ yeah it's great stuff, my parents were kinda hippy when I was growing up so it was always arnica for bruises, chamomile tea for sleep, and Echinacea when I was sick.

Track marks will heal and disappear over time, unless you completely butcher your veins by continuously using the same spot to inject. Use same spot a few times then switch to another for some time then switch back etc. Etc. If you dont want marks at all on your arms then try your feet or your ankles. Its a little trickier and more risk but then you dont have to worry about people seeing them.

Learn better injection technique, the consequences of your actions, and consider using a smaller needle.

Yeah, something isn't right here they really shouldn't have tracks after one time. Especially since they only registered and didn't even inject.

Triple antibiotic ointment will help
Really? I was always told not to use any kind of antibiotic ointment. Though I don't recall why that is.

way back when, triple antibiotic cream was an essential part of my post-administration care process after applying pressure to the site with a warm compress & isopropyl alcohol (which like most alcohols, has a blood thinning effect which prevents the blood from clotting / the wound from healing) but I would use 99% or anhydrous isopropyl liberally with my IV technique just to be safer. @0.02

use fresh needles, use different injection sites, band aids, skin cream, cover (make up). I once had a very obvious set of track marks on my hand, which is very hard to conceal. makeup washes off, bandaids dont stick, long sleeves dont cover, and you cant walk around with gloves on all the time. I took a razor knife and sliced thru all the marks, sure, I have a scar there now, but it DOESNT look like track marks. ymmv
