ozric tentacles -- good for anything trippy. smoke weed and lose yourself with it, or blast it on crazy doses of psychedelics. really good for peaking, or general high dose, tripping fucking balls status. tryptamine music. full live band, lots of great synthwork, and tasteful guitar shredding. my favorite for peaking on acid or mushrooms.

shpongle -- more well known, but still very trippy and awesome. for some reason shpongle resonates with me way more on DMT, and sometimes 2C-B, but definitely the ultimate deemster music. produced by Simon Posford AKA hallucinogen, psytrance tinged electronica with lots of ethnic instruments and trippy effects.

amon tobin -- super trippy IDM. synthetic, loopy, granular electronic craziness. blasted on ketamine music, but really good stoned too.

aphex twin -- preferably early ambient stuff----completely sublime, chilled out soothing perfection. so forward thinking it helped kickstart multiple genres of electronic music. great comedown music for MDMA, or other ecstasy-like substances. perfect for when things are getting a little too crazy on acid. pretty much awesome on anything. 808 and 909 drum machines, occasional 303 and Richard D James' homemade synthesizers.

future sound of london -- another IDM artist, but one of the first to take it in very experimental directions. i like listening to this past the peak of an ecstasy experience, but also good on LSD and other psychedelics if you can handle the weirdness. there are many moments of brilliance in this particular record. sampling madness, lush synths, fat underwater beats right when you want them the most. surprisingly this and selected ambient works work better loud as shit on a good system, than on headphones IMO.

plump DJs -- chunky, funky, breakbeat dance music. raw synths, fat bass, and plenty of groove. hip hop roots remixed energetic enough for the rave, and unpretentious enough for a house party. this kind of stuff is my favorite to listen to on a headful of 2C-B. works great on regular old ecstasy, or any time that you are feeling funky enough.

orbital -- ECSTASY! enough said. i still prefer this album (the brown album) to many modern, super fat and crisp production masterpieces. techno, techno, techno, with a healthy dose of acid house and an excellent proto-trance track to make you sure you never forget it.

primal scream -- screamadelica! the penultimate marriage of ecstasy and psychedelic music. probably the most legitimate drug music you can find in the indie section. rolling stones meets acid house. i always heard this album is best listened to with a candyflip. enough guitar for the rockers and four on the floor for the ravers. classic album.

grateful dead -- obvious enough, but not for everyones tastes. grateful dead music is a universe in itself and has enough variety for a world of chemicals and specific vibes. LSD. many may not like it, but if you find that you start digging it, be warned it very well may become a full-fledged addiction. straight american acid music.

phish - also another obvious one, but many people dont get past the superficial hippie tag they get these days. a cross between grateful dead-esque jam music and 70s prog rock. not to mention the most impressive four musical improvisors i have ever heard. these guys and the dead are much better received live, but are still great to jam out to at home. great on psychedelics but while the dead are a bit too slow for my ecstasy soundtracks, the phish can funk it up and fit in fine for me. i dare you to not be impressed by this jam:
