I searched a bit through this section and didn't find anything on that, so I'm interested
If this thread DOES however already exist, I'm sorry:

What instruments do you play, and for how long have you been playing them?

What style do you play the instrument in (e.g Blues Guitar, Classical Piano, etc.)?

Do you compose with said instrument(s)?

Are there other instruments you would like to learn?

To me:
Been playing the piano for about 23 years, guitar around 16 years. Big love for blues on the guitar, piano I play everything and anything. I compose with the piano mostly, it's just easier. I would really like to learn to play the Banjo & the Hurdy Gurdy. They're my favourite instruments next to the two I already play

I started with the piano at age 08. Got adept at it with only a bit of practice. Then one day I thought to hell with it because I wanted better marks in school.

I fooled around making remixes for a while. Some of my friends in school liked the tunes. Then I started with playing the guitar in 2018.

I am going to try very hard to make a living out of composing stuff but none of it will be very simple for me.

Haha I’ve been playing piano for like 32 years, thanks to my parents for insisting I learn when I was 4. I play but I really do prefer classical.

I have played the guitar since I was a teen so like 20 + years. I also love blues but rock is what I usually play when I pick up the guitar.

I can play bass, drums, violin, cello at basic level, I was a sound engineer for a good few years so you kinda need to know the basics.

I mostly compose with the piano but guitar is up there.

I love music, I have it playing all the time even at night.

I started on drums when I was 3, more seriously at 5. I started piano sometime after that but never took a lesson. At 12, I started violin

I can play all styles on drums but I'm best at rock or metal. I never tried to play much jazz drumming but I could if I wanted to I guess. I learned music theory on piano and with that classical pieces. I'm classically-trained on violin but I learned Irish fiddling and jazz playing as well

Do you compose with said instrument(s)?

I compose on piano or keyboard

Are there other instruments you would like to learn?

I learned viola in my teens but it's very similar to violin. Another stringed instrument I'd like to learn is the Hardanger fiddle but it seems so complicated. I wouldn't mind having someone teach me piano technique or maybe get a harpsichord and learn to play it. At least I can dream, hehe

Aww, sad you gave up the piano :( Playing it is pure bliss to me

Haha, I know that feeling. My parents wanted me to start at 5, and were REALLY instisting on it. But looking back on it I'm so happy that they were, I just love playing for hours on end.

So true. I'm the sound guy in my band(we cross covers over to metal), and it's just so important to know a bit of everything. And you can learn so much, too. Especially fiddling with the fiddle helped me a lot improving myself on the guitar :)

Yeah ... it was my fault at the end of the day ... Even at that time nothing brought me more joy than the sounds of music ... but I sadly wanted approval and playing my favourite folk tunes on the piano was not going to help me achieve that. Looking back at my life with the benefit of hindsight I recall the night well when I bid a kind of adieu to my electric piano (keyboard). I felt sad back then but today it strikes me a major turning point regarding everything after that. What is favourable to me, however, is that I actually do realise all of it now. I might not make a full-time living out of it but the hobby can turn an avocation for me in the future when I try stuff out on the guitar. I find playing the guitar to be a lot easier. I kind of chickened out playing chords on piano but on guitar I get no fear. It helps that the minor keys do not have to be coloured black! Yet I adore black.

God damn, I'd pay good money for guitar lessons from you :D

Drums from 4th grade through high school.

Was section leader of the high school drum line for two years and we won our first winter percussion state wide competition with me.

My teacher wanted me to go to school for music but i chose accounting 🤓
Do you still play at least?

Good drummers are so hard to find :P

No i don't i gave it up almost immediately.

I can beat box and play the cadence with my fingers?

I was alright at set. Played in the jazz band and had my own rock band. But ultimately better at the technical shit on snare drum.

Guitar. Or I try. Very hard instrument.

I played piano when I was a kid but didn't like it and just memorized it all, was forced. Then had the best idea of switching to violin, and breaking it by mistake since I knew my mom wouldn't buy me another, and it worked. Then I finally got to hang out with my friends again instead of after school band.

Oddly I didn't meet any real musicians until later in life and when I picked up the guitar.
