These are things that helped and are still helping me make it thru the dark side...my own personal paradigm of addiction is the disease model. These things helped me,so maybe they will help another ^.^
1. Rehab- probably the greatest help, I was n a six wk christian inpatient program followed by an intensly structured Christian six month halfway house
2. A chapter a day from the book of Proverbs- U dont even have to take them religiously, just as good advice...Read one chapter a day every day, every month...there are enough chapters for one a day.I will guarantee that everytime u reread a chapter u will get something different from it that will apply 2 ur current situation.
3. Good support post-rehab- Have a good support and accountability system once u get out of rehab, this will help greatly knowing u have ppl who care.
4.PPT's-People,places,things...basically stay away from the PPT's that u were around during ur active addiction
5. When U slip- Dont beat urself up bc that will only feed the negative feelings and increase the chances of going back into full blown addiction. Take whatever steps u need 2 pick urself back up...Eventually ur slip ups will get further and further apart
All I can think of for now,and I gotta go clock n for work,lol...but anyone who has questions about recovery or just needs an ear 2 listen, hit me up...
Sincerely,
Pariahprose
