But seriously, I'm in the United States and I'm going to vote for the first time in my life :)

Maybe other people will do this too :)

As an aussie. I still can't get my head around your voting system (or maybe the lack of.. i dunno)
I remember a couple of yrs ago they were recruiting popular proffesional wrestlers to encourage the younger gen to vote. This was a mystery as well, i would have assertained the youth of any country would want to have a say on how their country is run/ goverened.. without being prompted to do so..

Different strokes for different folks i guess..

What happens when you die?? I have no idea. It's exciting to think about, could be void (death of consciousness), could be bliss, or complete hell. Could be an infinite slumber. I honestly can't wait to find out, in no way would I commit suicide though, cause I'm really enjoying life.

Nobody knows for sure, but I choose to believe reincarnation, for eternity. I believe we are stuck in this reality for eternity.

Is this a thread about voting or death?

To answer your first question, well, it depends upon your belief system.

The physicalists believe that the body is a machine, albeit an extraordinary machine, that upon death, the machine ceases to exist.

The other group believes in the soul, and life after death through your soul.

I would encourage you to read Socrates dialogue with Plato and St. Augustine. You can also take the Yale course "Death" led by Dr. Kagan, free through ITunesU. You'll be prepared to make up your own mind.

I think the threads going to be about death since it's now moving over to Philosophy and Spirituality.

The thing about voting in america is the youth realizes that all of the candidates are all assholes that are gonna fuck us and when a good choice comes along the media doesn't focus on them so it looks like they don't have a chance and we give up and just say fuck it we'll let the people that feel like voting pick our poison. Its a terrible situation. Australia is actualy a fairly respectable country so it would be easier for an 18 year old to want to participate eh?

What happens before you were born?
I think once you die, that's it. It's not like sleep, and there's no afterlife, it's just like before you were born.
At the same time, I know if I close my eyes and I block my ears and there's no taste in my mouth and no smell in the air and my sense are dulled I'm still conscious, but that consciousness is a direct result of my brain, and when you die your brain dies with you. When your brain dies, your awareness dies, therefore everything 'you' are (and I don't mean your opinions and thoughts, I mean the real you) dies.

Also voting is mandatory in Australia once you hit 18.

When ou look at the buddhist wheel of life which is for reincarnation believers you can eventually make your way to the place you want to be (eg. heaven) so its not for eternity :)

I believe there is a sertain energy in everybody. And this is what get the brain working this is what the memory consist of. The energy tells the brain how fast or how slow its suppose to work and gives the memories the patterns. I believe after we die this energy is released and who knows it might pass to another baby and kind of reset itself and start from the beginning again it might go up to heaven when you believe in it. I believe what ever you believe after your death happens happens. Like your last wish.

Its interesting what if the world (are world only is made up by are brains that would mean that the person responding to this would just be a part of my brain. Something made up, something that doesn't actually exist without my brain.

I had a dream today that was extremely vivid I was in the dream and really wondering if this is real or fake. What if we are or I am just in a dream and we or I am waiting to wake up. Again you would just be part of my mind or I would just be part of your mind.

This subject is so debatable their are people who spend their whole life on this question and are never able to answer it. The problem is we cant come back after were dead. Now you might say that isn't true, what if we were dead or in a coma and we were revived? I believe the word dead can only be used if are brain is dead if it isn't working anymore and we are not able to think, move, see, smell or if or cells are just dead.

I think this is such an interesting subject I hope I get some good arguments that would be great :)

I choose to believe in reincarnation. If DMT gets released into your body when you die.. then couldn't that mean that taking DMT will recreate the effects of death and thus fooling your mind into thinking its dying until it realizes you have a body to go back too (20 minutes later). Everyone that takes DMT - correct me if I'm wrong - says they hit a moment of realization when they hit a certain point in 'hyperspace' that they have been there before and it's a familiar place? I've even heard people say that they broke through (first time taking DMT) and they recognized where they were, they said they'd been there before, hundreds of times, and they are going to be there many times in the future.

From the amount of research into this I've done I could fight this case for hours. Not saying I'm right or that anyone else should think this, but its just what I choose to believe to make life more interesting. And to think I haven't even taken DMT.. It is the hardest drug to ever get a hold of around here, I've been trying for over a year and still nothing :(

Woah! I always try to keep an open mind to new shit, and that makes perfect sense.

I totally agree mate... The people that mad a god up were probably trying some magic mushrooms and getting wasted. Its amazing what the mind thinks it sees sometimes and believes.

True, what ever country you are in voting for one dick or another really doesn't matter. You get screwed by whoever is in charge

I do find it interesting that DMT (or the precursors to it) are in every living thing, such a universal compound with such amazing effects.
You know it's incredibly easy to extract, right?
If you've been searching for over a year, I would assume you'd just extract some yourself. It's simple as fuck, monkeys could do it.
