Okay so I've decided to start working out again and am really just trying to gain back some strength so I'm doing P90X, which I have done before, to try to get back into shape so I can start going hard again.

Hears how my plan goes:

Breakfast

2-3 whole eggs or oatmeal

Lunch

Chicken breast and broccoli

Dinner

Some sort of lean meat either chicken lean steak

Snacks:

Protein shake, almonds, fruit.

I also take a multivitamin for post workout.

Any suggestions?

Drinks

Skim Milk (post-workout) and an occasional monster, but lots of water.

I have no idea what is in a "Monster", I do not drink that.

Maybe my metabolism is just fast but I would be starving from this kind of a diet. If you are trying to put on weight I would eat more quantity wise of these kinds of foods. Protein shakes are definitely a good idea.

If you eat beef you want grass fed beef.

"Once a day" multivitamins are not worth buying. I would look into using mineral and vitamin supplements outside of a "once a day" centrum type thing. Vitamin B12 shots are a great thing to use, as well as making sure you keep up with magnesium, calcium, and potassium.

well thats pretty much like the core diet. ill usually pick up some healthy stuff throughout the day to eat.

Oh and im 5" 10 189lbs. so im not trying to put on weight.

Well I completely avoid caffeine so I won't comment on that as it is up to you.

Are you trying to lose weight?

I would make sure you are getting enough fruits, vegtables, protein/dairy, while also making sure that your diet is consistent. One or two days of poor eating can detract a lot.

I would also make sure to quit using tobacco and alcohol as these cannot help you whatsoever. Enjoy lifting and best of luck.

yeah im trying to lean out a bit. im probably around 15% BF.

Gotcha. I am on d-amp for ADHD so I do not need to lose any body fat as it stands now, others here should have top notch advice for you.

Cardiovascular exercise is definitely a good idea - especially for your days off of lifting. Beyond what I have said though, I think others will have better advice as I am still in a stage where I am putting on weight.

Persistence always pays off. :)

It is pretty clean on the caloric sources.

Tweek intake of protien up based on exertion level....... < dot dot dot as I lay here worn the F out.

Remember intensity will make or break, effect caloric obsorbtion, and so on. You really need to your micros needed vs micros in the diet, you know how to do that?

alright thanks. yeah i kind jumped back on P90X even tho some people on here will tear me to shreds for it, but last time i did that, it did wonders for me. i lost some fat and packed on some muscle.

Take your cloths off and step on the scale early morning, see what you weight. Late nights are not as good because we may have been eating.

1) Take weight
2) Figure out exertion level
3) Figure out goal weight + exertion level
4) Do your diet

So say you weight 200 pounds. You are eating 3000 cals right now. Your want to drop 10 pounds.

You can google one of those chessy caloric intake exertions level programs and get a base idea of what your intake should be. You can start there and adjust the cals up or down.

Anabolics will make a difference in protien obsorbtion. Genetics is always a strong factor. So its not a set science. But after a week or 2 of doing this you are gonna have a good idea of were you are.

okay for sure thanks. yeah my genetics prolly arent that good cuz most of my family is overweight. your exertion level is how many calories you burn a day right? not actual excretions?

Exertion level is related to how many calories you burn. If you hit 1 hour more cardio you exertion goes up. Calories need to adjust.

You gotta get an idea of what you are sitting at prior to adjusting it.

Cardio is never enought, never say never but I am saying it. Resistance training has its place. Ergo, you gotta life and improve muscle mass at min qualitativly.

They are a fucking waste of money, that's what.

You don't need a multi if you're eating correctly. Either way, 90% of that multivitamin gets pissed out once you swallow it. You really think the body can absorb 300% RDA of 10 minerals and like 20 fucking vitamins? If anything, get some ZMA.

Voxide is correct; the "once a day" multivitamins do not absorb very effectively.

Eating the right kinds of foods which have plenty of vitamins and minerals is highly superior to using a "once a day" multivitamin.

I would also suggest no one ever use an oral vitamin B12 supplement, as it is much more effective to get IM injections of a synthetic form of vitamin B12 such as cyanocobalamin.

yes that is ok! but u need to ad some carbs as well. brown rice, sweet potatoes, etc.. drink the shack after u train. and maybe one more before bed.

Zero calorie monsters will probably help you lose more weight than gain. Not to mention the water-loss. Just take that in mind. If you're drinking normal monsters, then you're putting a good 60+ grams of useless sugar into your diet.

Otherwise your diet looks a lot like mine. Almonds are the god of all snacks.

But, why is this in steroid discussion?

Diet and exercise go hand in hand, so it makes sense why it is here.
