Not a whole fucking lot at the moment to tell you the truth.
Within the past couple of months, I’ve watched bluelight slide down a slippery slope into something not much more than a joke.
All that bluelight stood for now seems to be mocked by over-zealous and self-righteous board members, mods and admins.
Free speech my fucking foot. Unless your idea fits snugly into what the bluelight brigade deems appropriate, then *BAM* flame, lock down. I'm not speaking about anything in particular, rather the board as a whole.
If I were a new bluelight member I wouldn't want to post here. No fucking way. To get yelled at by residents who think its above them to give them a gentle nudge in the right direction and give them a link or two to start them off. Nup...sorry, that’s not what bluelight stands for anymore. Before you even KNOW the address for bluelight you are expected (AND required) to obey to each and every rule that bluelight has enforced.
I dont give a fuck about "old skool, nu skool" any of that. What I care about is APPROPRIATE behavior among board members. FREE speech. Exchanging of ideas and healthy debate. YES, it DID used to be better. People were more willing to listen. Why should that change? What HAS changed? 2 events in my eyes.

Don’t know why, but its caused the mentality of the people on this board to digress. Perhaps it’s the media's fault for imposing this ludicrous propaganda. I thought bluelight would have been the last to swallow this tripe. I don’t know...
I simply don't stand for victimisation. It’s unnecessary and unneeded. Why should someone feel threatened because they don't know about neurotoxicity? BigTrancer sets a shining example of what SHOULD be done. He is tolerant and helpful, without EVER being nasty. Other members should learn from his example.
Bluelights self-demise is caused by one thing and one thing one only: Bluelighters.
Its up to the board as a WHOLE to get this site back on track. Its my view, and I know I share this with others, that its time for a fucking change, because at the rate we're going, its not gonna be much of a community by the time this is all over.
Sorry about the rant, I had to get it off my chest.

what started out as a site where people of similar interests could come together and share them has ended up like a school yard group...
stuff like.. (and i may be a little extreme here... but still....)

no-one seems to be listening to one another anymore.... too many ppl are letting their personal lives affect this site.. rather than when they have a problem, asking ppl for help, they are taking the problem out on others...
anyways... enuff of my ranting....

one of the main reasons i think BL has gone down the path that it has, is that the mods seem to have become too cliquey with 'the rest of us.', and the board has become VERY melbourne-centric. obviously, this would seem to be a good thing, but as a result the i feel they aren't being as hard-arsed as they should be. I have noticed recently, that if you are in 'the crew' then you basically have a free reign to post whatever off-topic dribble you want, yet for everyone else, its SHUTDOWN TIME!

makes perfect sense horse, i can see where you're coming from although i've only been around seven or so months...
but what can we do about it? not a lot... bigtrancers tolerance is astounding, and not many people share it.

yeah id like to note that people are especially prone to saying 'use the search button' - if somebody doesnt and they ask a question which may be answered by a search, then its not a problem. if it annoys you, then dont post there, and if you cant be bothered typing it out, give them a link. and if it pisses you off that much, then dont bother coming here at all because this whole site is about giving information. its a forum for questions, answers and discussions. if you want to say 'dont ask, use search' then bluelight may as well be shut down because everyone can come here and search.
other than that i suppose theres more of a general negativity lingering in the air. quite possibly due to media blow ups and police action. yet in any case people should try and be more positive, itll make the world a nicer place

I only new 2 bluelight, was introduced by a freind, so i cant compare to what it was like before, but i joined just to learn stuff so i am reletivly safe with my useage and so i can talk to people who are into the same shit as me, an meetup with some sydneys bl's when out an have a mad time. And i have learnt heaps of shit which is mad, but i been shot down a few times as well, even got an email telling me to shutup and not post anymore coz i only a greenlighter who knows nuttin, so that was shitty,. but on whole its not 2 bad from where i stand. I gotta say the aussies are a heap nicer than the other forums though, i made mistake of going in another one on my first day,, big mistake! Mr Horse i glad someone in your position (Mod) has piped up with a post like that, just shows that there are really good people on here as well

Certain recent events have carved a rift in our fine community... I believe we shall prevail. For that to happen I believe that:
Fuck the US vs Australia & Rest of World debate, this misplaced nationalism is starting to tire me out. Differing views do not equate to personal attacks.
I would like also to see a little less elitism here, especially with regards to drug questions. I there is a finer line than most think between being anal and being stupid, but it is a line I beleive is worth treading. Remember, we were all greenlighters once.
Finally. Please... If you have some input into the way you think mods/admins should run the forums please EMAIL them. We dig mail, it makes us feel special

hehehe I find this quite comical acutally - sorry Horse no disrespect on you, I actually agree with you but it's all been said before - every couple of months someone will post something about how it's all going to shit - people will give the poster a pat on the back and tell them how they agree and then it's all forgotten - just like this thread will eventually disapear and all will be forgotten.
As for the double standards on Bluelight - fuck i've been saying it for ages and even tried to prove the point by posting a thread on a comical joke - it got slammed and put down as derogotive (sp?) - but the point I was trying to make was that if someone else more liked had posted it would have been accepted and treated as a joke - which it was. It goes on all the time and always will in my opnion.
It's for this reason that I gave up being a moderator - bluelight's standards are a joke.
So Horsey my friend, I think you just accept the way it is and just ignore the crap, even though it's a ball breaker - cause in the end nothing will change, it's progress.

I don't know if any of this is directed at me Horsey, I doubt it, but I could be wrong, so if so, email me, otherwise I'll assume not...
If anyone has a problem with the way this board is run, bring it up when we post the many threads asking for comments...
If anyone has a problem with the way I personally do my job, email me or even post it, I don't care if everyone knows, if I do something wrong I'll deal with it...
My problem is that if people don't tell me that they don't like the way I'm doing things I'm just going to stick to my way and they're going to keep getting pissed off and I'm not going to know about it...
In the many many threads we've had since the start of this forum complaining about the state of this board, there have been some suggestions which get taken into account... Some get forgotten... Remind me!
And if you don't like the way another mod does their job and you don't wanna tell them, tell me or another mod or another admin...

Exactly, as Bunny said, wanna change it? Do it! ...Threads like these just get agreed to and then forgotten... You need to be a lot more personal, send people an email or something...

Not a personal attack on anyone, but there's a lot of shit on here. I prolly aid in some of it, but i'm over caring about it... running uphill on the slippery slope.
I think the one big problem that this board faces are the police involvement. Nobody needs that type of shit, especially the people who use this board, who for the most part, are really commendable people.
Being a mod appears a fucked job, and while the honour would be good, just too much of a hassle. You've gotta have the patience and knowledge base of BT or JB (well perhaps not the patience

) (props negros) or the larger than life persona of a FoX, PhreeX, etc to get over it all.
This one can just get added to the list of threads on this topic that never went anywhere.
From the tone of a couple of threads it appears that bluelight is turning more and more like a bunch of crackheads who can't contribute to anything other than social. Meh, i post there, but there are other areas of the board to explore.
*Shrugs* at the moment i got bigger things to worry about than bluelight's ailing health. I find it funny though that "serious" threads like this get like 10 replies but something like "my penis is on fire!!!" gets 356 replies.
This happens on all noticeboards though, i've been members of others, and this thing happened to them.
 
I'm not going to pretend to know who Horsey is talking about. But it seems to me that the people who are partly resopnsible for the problems with bluelight are agreeing with this thread, meaning they will probably continue to do things they way they always have.

perhaps this thread will have no effect, and everyone will think of it as horse having a whinge, but maybe some people will sit back and have a think of how they MIGHT be able to contribute a little more.

I used to use this board a lot last year and early this year, then as I stopped going out over winter, it became something I used less and less till I didnt use it at all. So while many of you think I am a n00b I have seen how it was and how it is.
Personally, I think the board is pretty great. The only thing I think is a problem is the fear of some of the mods of threads getting off topic, especially in social. This is just my opinion, and your are welcome to disagree with it, but have a conversation, how long does it stay on topic. On other forums I've used, some of the best threads have been ones that stray off topic. However, having said this, there has to be a limit of course. Sometimes it is appropriate for a new thread, sometimes not. Anyways, mods, call it as you see it.
I'd also like to give a mention to BT, he's pulled me up a few times already, and when he does it its always calm and rational. BT, from the little I know about you, I respect the way you've talked to me and I appreciate it

But I will ask the following question for the benifit of those who do want to discuss this: Are you talking about just the Australian Forums? Or are you including New to XTC and Ecstasy Discussion? Because I personally haven't been to those two forums for quite a while now, but back when I was a greenlighter and didn't have the knowledge I do today those are the forums I got it from.
Just a thought, because if there's going to be a debate then lets make sure we're debating the same thing...
