What are your policies/ground rules on "fronts" & "fronting" in general?
I'm curious to hear from people on both side of the fence. I'm simply a frequent meth abuser, a semi-frequent opiate abuser and an occasional benzo user. I used to completely deny offers that would allow me to receive drugs on "front", or the practice of using drugs before I am able to pay for them.
I never wanted to get to the point that I needed drugs so much that I would ask for them on front before I had the money to purchase said drugs. I always thought it was bad for ethics all around and nowadays I will accept a front offer or straight up ask for a front. I do abide by some personal guidelines though, which go as followed:
1. I only ask for a front or accept an offer for a front (i.e. "dude it's cool if you ain't got the money right now, just hmu when you get the money), first and foremost depending on how long I've known my connection(s). To ask for a front when I just met a new connect is kinda rude..in my opinion. I try to establish a rapport first.
2. I only ask for a front or accept an offer for one, ONLY if the substance in question is NOT a hard drug. My logic, the harder the drug = harder the compulsions and cravings for it.. which ultimately leads to rash decisions and bad judgment.
3. Only ask for a front or accept a front for a drug if I am getting paid within the next (1-3) days or sooner. The longer the waiting period for payment after drugs have been consumed, the less it will be fresh in your mind that you just purchased x quantity of _________ a week ago and you need to do your part and pay for what got you high. Ties into ethics.
4. I only ask for a front or accept an offer for one only if the person on the other side of the fence isn't a known violent person. (I.E. no prison time, no mental illness history that I know of, no gang affiliations)
5. If I ever start feeling comfortable with a hook-up and I decide to ask for a front, and they say "NO", for any reason, WHATEVER reason.. I leave it at that and never ask for a front ever again. I also never ask them why the answer is no. They obviously have their reasons and it's probably not my business.
I find that, as a drug user, following these ground rules I set for myself is only a WIN-WIN for both parties ultimately and it keeps the shady ass bullshit that could pop up, to a bare minimum.
What are your fronting policies that you set for yourself and others? If you have any that is.
