What are you munching on? v. Noodle nights n greedy monkeys

We had crushed cucumber in garlic sauce, gong bao chilli chicken with peanutes, dan dan noodles and sea spicey aubergine.

Loads of shezuan pepper on the noodles, was yummy.

Never tried any of that but sounds delicious. My stomach is rumbling and my mouth watering just thinking about it.

I need to go have some breakfast.

Making sausages and mash tonight. I havent had that in ages. I'm looking forward to it. Think I'll serve them with marrowfat peas

Kale and spring onions in that mash would be divine - are you having gravy too? yum :)

Prawn and veg stir fry for me with Wib'z recipe for teriyaki sauce minus the dashi.

I might order some curry sauce, fried rice and chips later tonight, haven't had that in a while. I have a couple chicken pakoras in the fridge too that could do with heating up.

Kale and spring onions in the mash sounds tasty. I'll have to do that sometime. We just had mash with onion salt in it. Yeah, We had it with loads of gravy. I'm proper stuffed. There was no way I was going to be able to eat all my mash. I did tuck into three sausages though. A naughty treat.

Another fail at having a non-azn dinner here. Rice with nori, courgette and lettuce stir fry and some teriyaki quorn fillety things.

Sounds delish!

The teriyaki sauce turned out fine enough but i put too much ginger in it. The limp bit left in the fridge had more heat in it than expected. By the time I'd got the sauce done I was drooling, so straight into the wok :)

Hope everything tasted good!

Also forgot to say I had miso soup, clearly one of the best soups ever. Last of my "just add water" sachets though, boo.

I had to look this up. It seems so simple yet tasty. I think I can get ahold of tofu to dice but have no idea where I would begin to find Dashi or Miso paste. I will keep my eye out for them though at the ethnic shops next time I'm on an exotic shopping run.

might be able to get it in a well stocked supermarket if it has a semi descent world food section. Probably ready made sachets that you just add water to at vast expense.

They're well cheap here though, 10p each of something the work out. London <3

Sadly my area cater to the less sofisticated palet. I do have unlimited options in sub par frozen sausage and frozen ready meal available.

We've got an area in the city that is full of various ethnic grocers. I'll try my luck there. I understand its a japanese recipe and I know I'll sound a bit of a plonk for asking but do you think our chinese cash and carry grocers would supply the miso paste or is that exclusively Japanse?

Dunno, not that likely. The asian supermarket in leeds has a little japanese section and has the miso but not the dashi. Wouldn't hurt to ask though.

If you can't get it try: http://www.japancentre.com/

White miso is the sweetest, red is a bit more earthy and there is a dark one too, not sure if they've got that but that's got a deeper flavour still.

WOW, thanks for the link wibs. I've already bookmarked it. There's loads of stuff there, and its all reasonably priced too. Thats always a bonus. Yeah, I read in the recipe that you could use any of the three types of Miso. I think I'll puchase all three and give each one a go. I do love a good soup and japanese food. Cheers for that.

I think I'll also have to purchase that instant miso in the sachet just to try it. I've never had Miso before so I'd like to get a good idea of what it's meant to taste like. Seems quite light but flavourful.
