Ive tried posting this in threads about RC's but received no response and ive searched but nothing told me what they are. What are RC's?

rc's are research chemicals that are yet to or have not been illegalized by a countries legal system. they can be anything from uppers to downers and everything in between, though mostly the market is saturated with legal ecstasy's, hallucenogenics and uppers. Not many products on the market for research heroin.

RC's stands for 'Research Chemicals'...ie mephedrone which has recently been made illegal in the UK mainly due to deaths where it was involved (usually when combined with other drugs). But the fact is mephedrone is dangerous in itself anyway...

Its just one example of a plethora of RC's available in headshops & online, and some of them are extremely dodgy....they're so new that nobody knows the long-term effects of these things....most have'nt even been tested on lab rats ffs. & its a hard enough job finding out what 2cb or whatever is, never mind the difficulty in finding a decent supplier...

I'd leave well alone until you've done some serious research on what you're thinking of ordering.

& this thread should really be in the Basic Drug discussion section part of the forum. The mods will probably move it there....don't be offended if they do tho, its just the way things are here:)

There are a few opiate rc's out there (a tramadol-based rc is easily available I'm told). & of course benzo's. I might order some of the pure diazepam powder, but phenazepam....I won't be ordering any more of that:|

o-desmethyltramadol was briefly available, but there are no others easily available to my knowledge.

The main idea behind RCs is that their molecular structure is based on illegal molecules (THC, amphetamines, etc.), but slightly tweaked as to bypass the legal system.

They're synonymous with "designer drugs."

The "research chemical" phenomenon is one of the many great things to come out of the criminalization of drugs. Instead of using drugs that have been used for decades (centuries at times) whose risk-benefit profiles are extensively documented and readily available, drug-users are compelled to pursue alternative highs via RCs and thereby ingest chemicals almost completely unstudied in man (much less rodents etc).

Sorry for that last bit--may not be relevant to your question. :)

I've seen a few threads by people claiming what they ordered from one online headshop/RC vendor was not the same as what they got from another, yet they both claimed to be the same product. So who's to say what you're actually taking?

What other opiate RC's are you (or anyone else here?) aware of? Anything similar to codeine? I'm sure a lot of people would love to not have to do CWE's anymore :D

If you don't mind me asking, what was your experience with phenazepam?

Also, I'm one of the many people who tramadol just doesn't affect in any decent way, I get a bit tired and feel slightly intoxicated, like I've had a few beers. Has anyone tried this tramadol based RC who can suggest whether it does anything decent for us tramadol haters?

In the future, questions like 'what is... ?' Are probably better suited for Basic Drug Discussion.

Spot on, moredopamine. I gave a long presentation on research chemicals to some local drug counselors and you definitely hit some of my talking points.

Essentially, chemists figured out its easy to get around existing laws by slightly tweaking chemicals so in the US they made the Federal Analogue act which basically said that if a drug that isn't illegal is too similar to a drug that is, its de facto illegal without itself necessitating scheduling. This varies country to country, but it seems 'analogue' laws are relatively wide spread.
For more information, check out this link. The history is interesting but scroll down to the '1990-2004' and '2005-2010' sections for the most pertinent info followed by a list of most common RC's each linking to a page explaining what it is.

Since this is more basic than typical OD material and been answered, I'm going to close is. PM me if you have any questions.
