Acquired some ket-a-xyl from an actual vet earlier, smelt of detergent (all previous liquid ket had this smell) and i cooked it up easily enough. At this point I am convinced that it is bona fide Ketamine

Being the pedantic bastard that i am, i decided to test it with my EZtest Mandelin anyway but was shocked at the results. It fizzed, smoked a bit and turned a very light green :/

Thinking that I had somehow botched the cooking I tested the liquid ket and got exactly the same response, clear/green; which would indicate methamp/amph right?! I'm pretty sure it is meant to turn orange quite violently

Suffice to say I've thrown it away but I am really baffled, was it ketamine or something else. The only thing that could possibly have thrown it imo is that I have had that test kit for maybe 3 years now, otherwise I am completely stumped.

Any help please?

Pardon me, but ID threads are not allowed. But if you cooked it up does that mean you had it in liquid form before? And if so, why was it removed from the original sealed container?

this isn't an ID thread as such...

and it was removed because a syringe was used to remove the ket-a-xyl from the vial

I did not want to sound dickish :) But I thought it borders on the ID-subject.

However, to rule things out: Were you present when the liquid-transfer was done? Or maybe the testkit has an expiration date?

old reagents will give silly results. ive heard of them going bad after 6 months of non-ideal conditions.

This. I would get or make fresh reagent. Maybe try a couple other tests as well.

it also helps if you have some other evidence, usually 1 chemical test is not enough to definitively identify a compound.

We don't allow speculation or substance ID so this is gonna be closed now :)
