weed for pain

Smoking cannabis wouldn't be good for cancer pain as smoking anything isn't good for the lungs. Eating could be a different story.I have heard stories where people choose cannabis for pain relief over opiates because they bcan still function and deal with the pain. Give someone morphine as pain mangement they can barely string a sentence together. (mind you i get like that after a amoke as well) The only problem is, as someone mentioned tolerance goes up rapidally, it takes me good few until i'm wasted. Also weed isn't nearly as addictive as opiods

I used opioids for pain management and I was able to function quite well....as you build a tolerance, your faculties return to their original states...I was on over 300 mg a day and I still managed to do my job and all other life functions that I usually performed. It was only after I realized that the tolerances would just continue to increase that I decided that opioides were not for me and I returned to my original regimen of weed and OTC pain drugs like tylenol and Ibuprophen...along with some alchohol, weed is a fairly good alternative to the drudgery and dependance of opioids..

I am a chronic pain patient. I just recently started smoking and I swear weed helps more than some of the opiates I have tried. Currently I take Opana 20mg ER Roxicodone for the BT I also take Valium and Klonopin for panic disorder and I smoke weed at night because I have horrid insomnia and I refuse to add any CNS depressants to my cocktail.

There are strains for everything. Some will put you in a nod to rival any opiate, some won't do shit for pain but will whisk your depression away. Sometimes I feel like people look at cannabis as one single drug, these are the effects and that is that. This just isn't the case... Ranges from amphetamine like effects to LSD to opiates and everything in between. It's all about the strain.

Everyone should grow their own

I am a chronic pain patient who suffers from central nerve damage and inflammation around the spine due to a head-on collision.
I find a nice dose of cannabis to give about the same relief as about 100-120mg of codeine. As most people stated, I have found that cannabis distracts your mind from the pain more than it actually takes away your symptoms. When combined with opioid therapy I find I can lower my doses or at least space them further apart.
Cannabis is a great help, you just have to find the happy-medium in how it is useful to yourself. It won't cure the problems, only temporarily mask them; exercise is definitely a huge part of pain management, and as many MDs will tell you that you will still live with pain, the meds are there just to help take the edge off so you can help yourself. Also maintaining a proper diet can be helpful, cannabis indeed can lend a hand in this department.
So, in my opinion cannabis can be a great help, but isn't the answer to everything. The concentrates definitely help out a lot, especially if they're aged so that the CBD/CBN concentration is higher than freshly picked buds.
