I'd say it's A LOT more reasonable to say that psychosis or predisposition to psychosis causes weed use, instead of the other way around.
The first knee-jerk reaction to weed when these "thoughts" pop into our heads is to think, "Oh the weed is doing this all to me! It cannot possibly be my own thoughts", thus skirting all blame and free will of our own. Bull fucking shit. Cannabis is a class-A catalyst to your own mind, such is all psychedelics. Very plainly, it opens doors to yourself and can very well open the door to psychosis, if you've already built the damn door yourself. It was all just a matter of time anyways.
It's much like alcohol. You drink when you want to escape emotions, yet the emotions end up being amplified regardless. Catalyst to your own projections of thought and feelings. Shit, I could say this about anything, it's just that marijuana touches a special area in our brains that most other things don't, aside from chocolate and sex.
