I've used benzos before for a while so i have an idea of how bad the wd from them could potentially be.
I have some olanepine the dr precribed for anxiety/insomnia & am wondering how bad the wd are from these tablets, how bad wds are from antipsychotics in general & how they compare with benzo wd.

I also have a script for mirtazepine if i wanna try it out.

I've had mild AD wd before but I know mirtazepine isn't a typical AD & wondering how it compares with benzos wd.

feel free to discuss or rate the wds of any sedatives uve tried.

I dont wanna start regually taking something that is going to be inpossible to stop taing if im having trouble with them.

Withdrawal symptoms are going to be somewhat similar, although less severe than benzodiazepine withdrawal (the severity will, of course, depend upon your dosage level.) Its always possible to taper off as well to reduce these symptoms.

Typical withdrawal side effects for mirtazapine and similar drugs include anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, headaches, etc.

well I find antipshchotics to be stronger than benzos but not as comfortable.
Id assume antipsychotics would be worse to quit than mirtazepine.

I could always ask for benzos again. I didnt seem to build a tolerance to them but i know eventually it would happen.

Im just trying to find a good, practical med for anxiety/depression that isn't going to end up more trouble than its worth.

Wow. I fail at reading tonight :|

All that I saw was the mirtazapine and I thought that is what you were asking about withdrawing from.

Withdrawal from the Olanzapine will have many of the same symptoms that I described above, as well as motor function issues (typically tremors) and a rebound in depression.

Unfortunately, most any medication you're going to find for depression will have some kind of discontinuation syndrome. If it works for you, I'd encourage you to stick with it. Otherwise, work with your doctor to transition to a different medication.

well the only reason i got olanzepine is not because i think it has better anti-anxiety effects than benzos but because I assume it's easier to stop taking if i wanna.

Im only going to be taking probably 5-10mg if i decide to start taking it which is only a low dose.

I assume to quit that amount u'd only have to taper for a couple of weeks?

Olanzepine is more sedating than benzos but ive been told by the dr it's easier to stop taking. If it's as hard as benzos to quit than i may as well just take benzos right?

the OTC stuff doesnt help me to sleep very much. Promethazine works ok but only for a few nights & I got some Doxlamine the other night but I felt practically nothing from it.

Oh its definitely easier and far less risky to quit than benzodiazepines. Much safer in that regard, just not totally free of discontinuation effects. Between those two options alone I'd strongly recommend not using the benzodiazepines.

yeah when i get precribed benzos I chew em down like lollies.
I think ive got a natural tolerance to em. I dont understand why they make diaepam in 2mg & 5 mg tablets. they should come in 20mg or even 40mg pills IMO. I mean they make xanax in 2mg pills.. they would be better off making a higher dose valium tablet.

anyways. I got a script for both mirtazepine & olanzepine. ive had sample packs of quetiapine as well. Basically it's my call which med I wanna try out.

Im assuming the olanzepine will be the most sedative?

I know Mirtazepine is sedating because it blocks histamine receptors like a sedating antihistamine. (Wiki says Mirtazepine is good for treating allergies)
Do antipsychotics also block histamine? (so they are good for allergies like an antihistamine?)
