other then the vaccine there is no other reason for the major jump in death rates
I think lockdowns and other restrictions caused a significant spike in deaths. Japan had the highest suicide rate in the world prior to COVID. When I lived in Tokyo, ever single day somebody jumped off a building. You are taking a complex situation and reducing it to vaccines or virus. I don't like the vaccines. I'm not pro-vax. I just don't think you're seeing the whole picture.
Nobody should be leaping to any conclusions.
People on the internet can't lazily interpret stats. They might think they can, but they can't. It is difficult to get a clear picture with statistics.
Somebody I work with the other day told me that he thinks sunscreen causes cancer, because he read a peer-reviewed study that showed people who use more sunscreen are more likely to develop skin cancer.
I'm not suggesting that what you're saying here is as absurd as his conclusion, but you really need to doubt yourself and dig deeper if you want to understand something this complex.
Stats are (more often than not) misinterpreted... particularly by laymen.
there is no other reason I don't see another reason
Sometimes the least ignorant position to take is to accept the fact that we're ignorant. At least, then, we keep our minds open.
You can't learn the truth if you think you already know it. This applies to both sides of the argument.
...
There are so many red flags in what you posted. The author of the article (Joel Smalley) isn't a statistician. He isn't even a scientist. He's a political activist. The article is riddled with editorializations. I'm happy to dissect it, if you're willing to listen. Most of the time I don't bother arguing against anti-vax stuff because: a) I don't like the vaccines, so I'm not particularly motivated to do so... and - most importantly - b) there is no point talking to people who refuse to listen. I'm not suggesting you fall into the latter category. I'm just wary of investing any more time beating my head against a brick wall.
If you want me to respond to the article properly, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt... but I've given up talking sense to most of the regulars around here because they are, frankly, nuttier than a nut bar.
