Warehouse Project

Been quite a few times (being in manchester convenient) usually go to about 3-5 of them each year, its got huge now compared when it used to be about 4 years ago with the venue change. The line-ups are often quite similar, though theres a few decent ones this year.

Latest venue is huge though, 2 large rooms and a smaller one. Good points? Nice dark dingy venue can hide about a bit, can get busy as fuck sometimes though when they over sell it, bouncers are also cunts. It also has the annoying point of attracting utter cunts on some nights, I think new years day was the worst last year all big boys standing in circles, barging around like general cunts.

Ive had a lot of good nights in there though, which ones you got planned?

I quite like the 3rd room, when your walking around the warehouse though it seems fucking huge, when tis smoky get easily lost.

^Top set that for a sunday night , last tune prodigy gets the place moving

Thanks for the info.

I was thinking of going to Bugged Out on the 6th December.

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS DJ SET / DAVE CLARKE / EATS EVERYTHING / EROL ALKAN / BICEP / OPTIMO / BODDIKA / TREVINO / GERD JANSON / JUSTIN ROBERTSON / JAMES HOLROYD / GREG LORD

Sounds good apart from the security and hopefully the above won't attract the undesirables.

Is it easy to get stuff in or get while you are there?

Hmmm out of the like 15 or so times ive been I have only ever been asked about twice, a few of my friends have been sold shit stuff in there before, not exactly the best place to get anything. There are quite a few undercovers inside, got chucked out before just doing a key of ket on the dancefloor and suddenly torch over my shoulder and 2 guys whisking me away.

I would not risk it though, just take stuff with you (and ignore the daft show dog on the door), I walk past it everytime with stinking MD, bud, coke etc Has to be a weapons dog or something surely

It's not. Quite a few friends of mine got stopped with pills by those sniffer dogs. They also had dogs at the station nabbing people. If you want to do drugs it's just not the place any more. It's like global gathering. Once the crowds turn up they need to be seen to be trying to curb that stuff.

Ive bought tickets for Madlib one. Will probably go in for hospitality and a couple others..

Preferred store street but this venue is ok-ish. Its a nice vibe when its a good crew but i remember everything getting abit too intense when i came up one time. The stench of the burger van is horrible, I sometimes forget people go to these things without drugs. Victoria wearhouse would otherwise be occupied exclusively by serial killers and rapists if it wasn't for this rave thing lol.

Security wise, there is a large presence yeah, the dog doesnt do shit *touch wood* but everyone always sketches out when they see it, myself included. Security are very visable as they go through shining there silly little torches, so just dont be too bate and u should be ok. There is always the prangey stage where u just want to take your shit but after that your golden. I have heard stories of police waiting outside for ravers who are pranging out, ready to nab them as they sketch out stumbling home, but im not sure how true they are. probs wont help with the paranoia lol.

Room 2 or 3 (cant remember, the middle one) is such a sweat box lol. Pure vibing in there, its niceeeeeee, but probably due to the amount of chemicals people are on rather than the venue itself. Being sober in a WHP has been likened to being the sole survivor of a zombie apocolype, except with less hope and more techno.

Probably a £60 night when including pills, water, taxis etc but 100% worth it. 3-5 is a good number to aim for imo. Needless to say im so hyped for term time to start and to get onit with my mates. Be prepared for queues, but if you are ok to leave early you miss everyone, who tend to arrive 9:30-11ish. I always like being in the empty wearhouse as well, its eerie.

Also dont think tickets have sold out just because it says so on the website. Its just the first released that are gone.. its a marketing ploy to generate some hype..

Had no problems with taking drugs into both Global and WHP.

We've just booked tickets for Chibuku on the 23rd. Jack Beats <3

Yeah, the majority of people don't. It's just a far higher amount of people get caught and screwed over at these larger festivals and club nights. It prangs me out and ruins the night.

dont think like that..! just be confident, worse case scenario they take your drugs and refuse entry, big deal! its happened to me in Fabric but i got on with my life and stopped being a massive pussy about it. Yea ok if ur running around with 200 pills they might get the police involved but literally EVERYONE in there is on something. Its just part of their job to stop us, and part of our job to avoid them. Plastic actionman but there is a mutual respect

This is my experience after 4 years visiting there. The dogs never seemed to do much, so I suspect they gauge reactions, or only effective for a bit. Thorough search, but no worse than anywhere else. Just be careful in there, but if you aren't being a twat you are ok. I have never had problems. New venue is incredible ! Proper dirty warehouse

Cheers guys.

I have just looked on the reviews and although it is a massive venue there are a lot of people saying that it is really overcrowded / difficult to move around in and they operate a one way system?

How does WHP compare to Fabric or are there any other better clubs out there?

I wouldn't say it's overcrowded but when you're battered there's little to slump on, that's my minor gripe with the place. Can't remember if there was a one way system or not, I think there may have been for the smoking area or something.

They have loads of dogs around the place, you're hear them backing before you see the venue. No idea if there just for show or not.

I've never been to the WHP, but Fabric is massively over rated.

They're very similar in my eyes, although WHP is definitely bigger and the queuing/entry is very similar to a festival. After being to both many times I do have to say they both have their perks and downsides. FabricFirst gives you a queue jump and allows you to dodge any groping(worst search of my life guy tried pulling my balls down to my knees i swear) by security - you'll be in within a few minutes, WHP has no such system and a dog is present but as mentioned before I'm pretty sure its a pet of the bouncer, poor thing must be so scared of whats going on, loads of rowdy folk, rain, wind, thick smell of cigs in the air must be a health hazard for that dog someone should call the RSPCA.

On the other hand in terms of experience, Room 2 & 3 in WHP are so hot I can't stand being in there for longer than 5mins before I feel like my brain is about to boil in my skull, I usually spent most of my time in Room 1 where your likely to lose a lot of your friends in the process to buy drinks go for a cig etc. Whilst Fabric's room 3 is a lot more laid back where you can sit down if things are getting overwhelming. Room 1 & 2 are also good fun even though they may be considerably smaller than WHP.

Quick note, if your goin WHP take a bottle cap with you, nothing does my head in more when they take that off your bottle of water claiming they dont want u to throw it at the DJs whereas its a clear marketing ploy to make sure you keep buying more. If i really wanted I'm sure throwin a bottle full of water would fuck off a DJ and the sound team more than just a bottle cap.

It gets too crowded in WHP id say, Fabric is a little easier to navigate about. Getting home is easier from WHP i'd say than Fabric and a little cheaper but I guess thats Ldn for you.

Just a quick interesting story, went for a piss in WHP saw my mate gettin talked to by security who stands outside the toilet funnelling the flow of people in and out, he was claiming he knew he was sniffin something in the toilet (I suspect he saw a polo ring) and asked him to give it to him otherwise he's callin security to chuck him out. After about 5mins of an awkward standoff of 'no i wasnt' the security guard reached for his walkie talkie on numerous occasions to call in backup to get him thrown out(i assume to coax him into handing it over) until eventually he turned around n said 'ahh well fuck you ya cunt' n just walked off. Guy was clearly chatting shit and it makes sense looking back its a waste of time to call in a whole team to take out 1 guy who's got a polo ring. Lesson from this is just be polite to security but under any circumstances straight up deny your usage, they're just trying to take your drugs to sell on, i've seen security standing in the toilets boasting&waving baggies around to each other what pills n drugs they've confiscated from people, corrupt fuckers.

I do know in Fabric there are undercovers walking around in the crowd and have seen people get grabbed in the smoking area for trying to sell drugs. Also, I do like how Fabric has its own record label and sends out some interesting CDs every now and then. WHP lineup this year looks very similar to last year I may go to 1 event and skip the rest since the lineup was a little zzzzz... in my eyes.

Only thing which comes close to both clubs in my eyes is The Rainbow Warehouse in Birmingham, which someone got shot at last night:(
