I find it difficult to find reviews for many rehabs and psychiatric institutions. I am aware that if you have money you can alter what is visible on google by paying companies to alter back links and the such. I am sure institutions are protecting themselves by removing negative reviews or stating that mental patients reviews are invalid on the grounds that they not mentally stable/reliable.

I have been to The Menniger Clinic, Austen Riggs, Ashley Valley Wilderness Rehabilitation, dealt with the Mclean Hospital psychopharmacology expert, The Optimum Performance Institute (sounds sketchy right?), Bay State Hospital, Morristown Medical Center (Franklin 5), etc....

I have an abundance or information to share about institutions; the good, the bad, and the really fucked shit. I want people to know what the deal is before they sign themselves in somewhere and waste 50 grand or more.

My brother goes to Northwestern and has helped many official clubs and small businesses get off the ground. I am currently working on a questionnaire with him for people to right general, medium length, and relatively simple reviews of institutions. Hopefully in the next couple years we can compile volunteer reviews from my friends and their friends and their friends that have been at institutions and wish to have an honest discussion about what does and doesn't work. Even more so I would like to protect innocent children from the abuse they could receive at some therapeutic boarding schools and wilderness programs.

I just wanted to put this out there so maybe a discussion could be had about how to get a project like this off the ground running and avoid being discredited in way they put the project in its grave. Obviously the names of staff will not be permitted in reviews to avoid defamation lawsuits. I think there needs to be a forum for patients to voice both negative and positive opinions about experiences at institutions.

Any stories, opinions or helpful thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Great idea- I'm a Jersey boy as well and have quite a few reviews for places in the southern part of the state. If this thread gets kickstarted, I'm all in to partake.

We have a rehab and detox review thread stickied at the top of the sober living forum. Posting then there would help bluelighters make informed decisions. I know last time I went to rehab I spent a solid week trying to find a great place I could really get help at. I ended up very disappointed with my choice. Apparently many of these places believe outright lies about there program are acceptable. The place was out of state and once I was there I was stuck. So yes honest reviews are very important to our community.
