About A year ago I was prescribed vyvanse for ADHD and ADD, and everything was amazing, I was social, energetic, and attentive. I'm going to be completely honest here and say yes, I did abuse them sometimes, and I think that might be one of the causes for this. The first time I stayed up two days in a row without sleep, Everything was still good. So I kept doing it, about once every week maybe even more. Eventually staying awake kept getting harder and harder so I quit doing it, I had learned my lesson and now I'll never abuse anything again, I even quit pot.
The Derealization kicked off when I started producing music, about 5-6 Months ago, I would just sit in front of my computer screen literally almost all day, and I began noticing that after I've passed the peaked from my prescribed amount, I would start feeling really strange, almost like I could stare a brick wall for hours and hours on end and my mind would have this odd pressurized fogginess to it, which would not allow me to create music, or anything really.
So I quit, it felt like I was killing off thousands of brain cells every time I took it.
I've been sleeping relatively good for about a month now and decided to try vyvanse out once more. Yesterday morning I took one pill and everything was going good.
I got on my computer and went to town on FL Studio. Made a 6+ minute Trap + DnB + House hybrid track, My longest beat yet.
You can listen to that song here: https://soundcloud.com/pounceyy/beyond (Mix is kinda low so you'll have to turn up the volume)
It's extremely fast paced, and since I'm being honest here, I was sweating balls from speeding while I was making it lol.
Nearing the end of the song (Around 2PM?) my body started getting numb and my mind began getting foggy, I knew what was coming. If you listened to the song I linked, you can clearly tell that nearing the end, the beat started slacking a bit. Due to the brain fogginess.
After finally finishing it, I began mixing and mastering it. That's when things started getting really bad. I would get a glass of water and sit it on my desk, then about every 15 minutes i'd go get another glass of water, I eventually ended up with 4 full cups of water on my desk. That's not even the worst of it, I was feeling so out of it, I could look up at my ceiling and I wouldn't be able to tell you if I had my legs crossed or not. I didn't feel "in" my body, nor did I feel like I was floating above it.
At around 4PM I was completely finished and decided to upload it to SoundCloud, And through out the rest of the day the feelings previously explained did not get any better nor worse. It's now 10AM The next day and I'm still suffering from brain fogginess, and am slightly still unaware of my surroundings, not nearly as bad though. It should be more less gone by tomorrow if I can get a good long night of sleep.
Now the reason I'm posting this is because I want to see if we together (People who also suffer from DP/DR) can figure out what the fuck causes it.
I first thought it was due to some form of permanent damage of the brain due to sleep deprivation, Which could very well be possible. But then I remember that this all started when I started sitting in front of a rather large computer screen day in and day out.
Could it be sleep deprivation? Or is it the fact that staring at an LCD monitor all day is just plain unnatural for the brain and can mess with your perception? Maybe they tie in together and the combination causes you to spend way to much time in your head thinking? I don't know.
What are your guys opinion? And to the people who also have DP/DR, When did you start getting it? And what might you think caused it?
Also, Does anyone know if all stimulants cause DP/DR? I want to try new medication because otherwise I have no motivation or the attention span to follow my dreams and that really bothers me.
