Hello fellow BL's! My first post! Woohoo! Popping my cherry
I was diagnosed ADHD last week after completing an intensive, hours long, multifaceted test. I did not tell the shrink or the neuropsychologist I was previously given Adderall by a friend over a decade ago, even though that med helped me, greatly. I'm pretty sure the doc would be receptive to my feedback based on the dynamic we have, but I can't be certain how he would take that.
The doc started me on Vynase, going from 30mg to 60mg in five days (my ADHD is that severe), instead of a fast acting, since he was concerned the amphetamine could make me aggressive (which it didn't). But it doesn't work anywhere near as well as the Adderall. And in truth I find the Vynase to be mildly sedating, and majorly sedating during the comedown, which is happening after 5 hours- nowhere close to what the doc suggested. Vynase does focus me and even calms my aggressive tendencies, like Adderall did, but it's far less effective.
I already told him about my alternating shifts as he described Vynase to me, and he said if the Vynase makes it too hard to sleep or function he'll add a fast acting or switch it up.
What I don't want to happen is to spook him so he changes me to the other side of ADHD medicine, like Ritalin, as that strain does not work on me-something I also cannot share without possible scrutiny. Or for that matter, have him take me off Vynase if this sedation may pass.. It's taken me over 30 years to push myself to seek treatment.
By the way, both the doc and tester specifically mentioned Adderall and Ritalin, but I'm just hesitant to come out and say --- lets try Adderall I know it works!! But in the absence of feedback, I may take that gamble because if I don't fix this lack of focus I have, and now the overwhelming midday fatigue I'm experiencing, it will severely impact my job.
My gut says to approach this like I would had I never taken Adderall before - describing both the benefit positive and negative aspects of Vynase, and following that up with telling him I've researched the meds, which is true, and tell him I'd like to try the Adderall, perhaps as a noontime dose since that's when I'm crashing on 60mg Vynase. Like right now, my head is foggy and writing this post is challenging. Had I wrote it before crashing, that would not have been the case.
Finally, I'm having issues interpreting what I can and can't day in this post. So if you can't render feedback to what I'm pointing at above, I'd love to hear what combination of Adderall and Vynase you have found to be effective considering my mid day crash.
