Heroin Vomiting on Heroin

Hey guys,
I've been using heroin since about February of this year. I only insufflate it, never plug/IV/smoke/etc it. It's always #4 and to the extent of my knowledge, it's usually pretty decent stuff with a good purity.

When I first began snorting it occasionally, I didn't have any problems. Sure, if I snorted a little too much, I might throw up a little, but my vomiting problem with heroin has gotten much worse. As soon as it hits my nose, within seconds, I am always running to the bathroom to throw up. I don't think it's really about the typical 'opiate nausea' symptoms, as once I'm high on it, I don't have to throw up. It's really because of the strong and distinct smell that it's making me vomit. I took a 2 week break from it and this morning even when I smelt the outside of the baggie, it was enough to make me vomit.

This happens to me on both an empty and full stomach; if I snort it on an empty stomach, I just throw up whatever happens to be in my stomach, usually it's just water or stomach bile I'd imagine. When I snort it with food in my stomach, I always immediately end up throwing up everything I ate, even if I had last eaten hours and hours ago.

I've read about taking diphenhydramine (maybe?) for the nausea and slight itching I get, but I am somewhat nervous to combine the two drugs. I also may have a minor heart condition (not sure, just occasional pain over my left chest) and possibly high blood pressure which is preventing me from taking many OTC medicines. I have not tried pepto bismol, however, as I do not know if it is safe and I feel like I'd just end up vomiting it up anyways.

I'm looking for any advice on the subject; I feel like my case may be somewhat atypical because even just the smell of the drug is enough to make me violently throw up for a while, and I'm honestly quite sick of it. I really enjoy the high but I don't enjoy having to vomit for 20 minutes before I get anywhere.

Any input is appreciated, thanks everyone!

Sounds like it could be psychosomatic. When I used to use heavily I'd get so much anxiety as I was copping or coming back from copping that I would throw up as well.

This. Definitely a mental reaction. It happens with people who got really drunk on whiskey one night, puking everywhere, etc.. then in the future, even the smell of it almost makes them puke. It's association, and you associate heroin with throwing up. Like orgone said, it happens too when you're sick or super anxious about copping, just looking at it can make you puke. It happens big time with IV cocaine for me. Sometimes I'll just get so excited to do it, I puke before I even shoot up. Even the thought of scoring some makes my guts rumble.

So, what you can do is try and really just relax. Calm yourself down, breath, and don't focus on the throwing up part. Doing less will also help as vomiting is often a side effect of just doing too much as well.

Trust me what you're going through is not odd. Many of us go through that but it often happens for short periods of time than stops happening as you just get more used to using.

to me, it sounds like your gag reflex. I used to have this same problem when snorting cocaine. i know it wasn't the coke itself making me sick, but just the way the first rail would hit the back of my throat and then the drip...but after a cocktail and relaxing for a little bit, I could get after another bump/rail and I'd be just fine.
just my $0.02

Yeah, the intranasal ROA itself can lead to vomiting because of the unpleasant smell a lot of drugs have and the nasty drip.

Please Help ASAP -- Continuous Puking from Heroin

Myself and three friends were hanging out tonight. Three of them did heroin about 5 hours ago. The heroin has been used before by one friend, and it's regular stuff.

One friend (the usual user) is completely fine after taking a small dose (25mg). Friend number two took 25mg as well, and felt super sick and puked 5 times. He's better now.

Friend 3 took only 15mg, and keeps puking. No problem with breathing or anything like that, but just keeps puking, even now.

What's going on? Just a bad reaction? No respiratory depression at all, not passing out, but just feels terrible and she won't stop puking up small amounts (she's not puking a lot up, just really frequently)

Anyone ever heard of this? Advice? She doesn't appear to be in danger, but I can't figure out why she's so sick after oly 15mg. I mean, she's completely new to opiates (first time ever), but she just snorted 15mg over the course of an hour.

Any help is appreciated.

She had too much heroin, but she will be fine. A lot of people, especially girls, get sick the first time (even the first couple times) using heroin. It's a pretty common reaction even with experienced users when they take too much gear.

A.

Agreed 100% with above. If she is opiate naive it is a common reaction. Frequently when someone even takes other opiates/opioids (hydrocodone, oxy, etc) for the first time it is common to have nausea and vomiting.

true, when I was new to opiates, I began experimenting with all the pain pills available,,,hydrocodone, oxy, Darvocet, I would puke for hours or wanna puke the moment I would stand up, oddly I liked that feeling, even at the time im pukingi tell myself never again. very enlightening drugs when first started taking them. once the EXTREME mental cravings began to occur and later on physical withdrawl, tolerance to these painkillers rise dramatically from example a 4 day a pill person is now taking over 30 pills a day and feeling withdrawl as early as 12hrs later. this drug shows u how awesome it can be, and how just as devious as well

This is the important part of your post. Don't stress, she'll be fine. Maybe it will even discourage future heroin use, which is generally a good thing.

It's completely normal. The first 3x I used heroin I threw up repeatedly. She'll be fine, just keep an eye on her, try to make her drink some water to stay hydrated and if she falls asleep, put her on her side. (If she throws up while sleeping on her back she could choke on it.)

Thanks for the help, everyone.

She's still puking (or dry heaving) every hour or so. It's almost 12 hours since she took it.

My concern was that it seemed like such a low dose... I know nausea is common, but have you guys really heard of such a reaction at a mere 15 mg insufflated? My other friend (male) is still feeling sick, but not puking. He says he's never felt like that before, and compared it to marijuana but really fucked up, which seemed like a very strange comparison to me. Neither of them felt euphoria. No one passed out or anything (thankfully), but they were both in extreme discomfort. They felt very muddled and unclear, which is strange because I would consider opiates to give a clear feeling.

I guess I'm paranoid that maybe they reacted badly to a cutting agent? But it seems unlikely that they BOTH would, and that the other guy using the gear was completely fine (albeit, a tad nauseous). Or does the above sound completely normal for heroin (little to no euphoria, extreme nausea for 12 hours, "marijuana-like feelings," an almost inebriated state, etc.)?

Thanks for your help; any thoughts on the above would be greatly appreciated, as I'm still quite worried if this is a heroin reaction, or if this is a "something else" reaction.

Your friend is opiate naïve and probably wasn't a good idea to start with heroin. I've had bad reactions to oxycontin in the beginning where I was very nauseated and vomited a couple times. Once my tolerance was up that problem went away. One time after I had quit using (had a bad habit for several years) I had gotten real sick off just one 30 mg tablet.

I think the worst of her vomiting should be over though. Bet she won't be in any hurry to try it again after this experience.

There is a thread already exactly like this one created a few days ago. Going to just merge the two.

Please people use the search engine and look at recently created threads so you don't just make a duplicate thread asking the same exact question that's already been answered many times.

This thread is so dissimilar to my thread, it's not even funny. One is about psychosomatic reaction, and the other is about puking for 14 hours straight after a first time dose. Unless THIS case is psychosomatic now, too, which is possible, I suppose.

But I wish to hear more people's answers, so it is what it is and I'll try not to be too grumpy.

I know nausea is normal, but is puking for 14 hours a cause for major concern? One of my friend's wants to take her to hospital, but I think it's unneeded because she's fully conscious and everything.

I know I received a lot of answers already, but I'm really caught up on the duration thing. Can someone please comment on the 14 hour aspect of it

My mother has a similar reaction to morphine when its administered in hospital.
She has to have an anti-emetic with the morphine (not uncommon, i know) and another anti-emetic the day after (without any morphine) or that one morphine dose will have her vomiting for 24hrs.
Some people are just particularly sensitive to opiates emetic effects. If the vomiting becomes too much then cyclizine or meclizine should deal with the problem.

It's about puking on heroin, the other thread was about puking on heroin, if you'll see the answers on the other thread.. they explain the same thing you're going through. Often times people with no/low tolerance have a hangover effect involving puking, even for a full day or two after using. Sometimes it's psychosomatic, other times it's a direct result of dosing too much.

Either you're getting some really potent dope, or your gag reflexes are fixed on acting when you get the taste of dope in your nasal cavity.
I used to puke alot when snorting dope, but it was related to the taste of it, not because it was super potent.
Eventually, I got used to it and I wouldn't puke unless I did 5 bags in a row.
