hi its my first post and i gotta question,

so recently a volcano has been blowin and i thinking about taking some of the ash and putting in a pot since its some of the most fertile dirt. it would be a good fertilizer, would it not?

think its a good idea or has anyone tried it?

Actually, not really. It's a nice amendment though, it's primarily used for water retention and as a substitute for lime (for example in soils where the ph is already on the high side), it contains a whole bunch of trace elements like aluminium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, boron, etc. Watch the dosage though, try varying amounts on a couple of plants to find out what's best for your particular soil.

I heard of someone using a volcanic vent under their house as a grow source in Hawaii. Any opinions on how true this may be?
