Anyone else have it or planning on getting it soon? AWESOME game, I love what they did with this new version and I completely recommend it to anyone who plays online fps.

yeh well i heard you sucked at cs so please, get some practice in before i get to burn you to death.

I was thinking of checking this out. I never play online games though. Never had a good experience with Servers and shit like that. People running around like crazy.

Anyways you recommend? I'm thinking 'Orange Box' for PC.

I don't like that they took out all grenades from TF2. This removed a significant amount of "class abilities" and they didn't give every class new abilities to replace them.

Also, the "uber" thing is just stupid in my opinion. Two medics and a heavy who are working together over voice chat can win basically any mission. They just sit back in the base and charge up their uber. Then they get the heavy as close as possible to the "goal" and use an uber then when it wears off the next medic uses their uber.

Getting the flag or capturing a point is easy mode if you do this. Even though you can't capture points while using uber you can easily kill every sentry and person around so the rest of your team can move up and win.

Uber should last like 2x as long but the charge up should go down as fast as it goes up if you're not healing someone. This would make it a real "uber" since you couldn't just camp at your spawn point "over healing" people to get charged up before you even see an enemy.

I disagreed with the grenades removal at first too, but it seems to balance better without them. The grenades made it easier to get by without having a combination of classes better suited to the map.

The new balance is seeming pretty good. There are a couple of issues still like the ubercharge thing as you mentioned. I also find the rate at which spies can put zappers on engineer structures is way too high. That thing needs a reload time, because I just get spies that run in a room, plant em on 4 sentry guns, and run out before anyone can do anything. Also if you're the only one defending they'll just keep the button held down and planting it since if you stop repairing to kill them your sentry will explode anyway.

Overall though I'm finding it lots of fun and a nice break from overly complex team FPS games like Battlefield or Quake Wars.

Any vehicles in this game??

No, not that I'm aware of. Most of the maps are too small and complex to warrant them anyway.

In my opinion TF2 and Portal alone are worth $44. Portal is one of the best games I've played in awhile. It's short but custom player made maps should lengthen the play time.

I want to see Portal with multiplayer and guns. Not like regular guns but plasma rifles, mental powers to light things on fire, crazy ass weapons to match the crazy ass atmosphere of Portal.

I didn't even care about Portal but I played it last night and now I'm addicted. I can't wait for some custom player made maps to come out.

I am addicted to TF2. I hated it at first because i wanted it to be like the original TF but it has grown on me.

We should start a Bluelight clan!

The Orange Box is the best deal of all time in FPS games.

You get HL1, HL2, Ep 1, Ep 2, TF2, and Portal.

You can't beat that, its simply incredible. I love the episodic format, even though it's taking away from the chances of a Half-Life 3 ever being released. Luckily I don't think I'll ever get tired of Halflife2 since its so god damn awesome.

Episode 2 kicks ass :)

Team Fortress 2

So, anyone else here play TF2? I played the free weekend for the Pyro Achievements release, and it motivated me to actually buy the game and I freaking love it!

Yes. That game is fun as hell and kills some serious time when I'm bored. I love playing as the spy.

yea this game is pretty fun haha. spy is too complicated.

demo man ftw

I thought spy was too complicated, then I played it for two weeks straight, It wasnt then... just takes a little dedication to the game.....

Yep, this is my favorite FPS currently and one of the best I've ever seen.

My only complaint right now is the stalemates that occur on certain maps/stacked teams. I think the engineer wrench should only heal as much as it currently does if it's been in use for a bit. Like you have to hit some kind of engineer object 3 times before it heals for as much damage as it does now.

I hate to brag but honestly I find myself taking on entire teams most of the time (I ALWAYS switch to the losing team) and the only thing that stops me over and over is when I have to take out sentries and the other team is attacking me the whole time.

Basically this is how TF2 goes for me...

Join server, join shitty team, push the other team back a ways and run into sentries and die, respawn and try to kill sentry but while I'm trying someone kills me, respawn and repeat for about 15 minutes when I finally kill sentry, push other team back to next point where I run into a sentry, repeat.

It's made the game unenjoyable for me unless I'm playing with extremely good players. Unfortunately because of "crits" a lot of really good players don't play because the competitive gaming aspect died due to the unfair nature of crits.

Anyway, if they somehow made sentries a tiny bit more kilable I'd be happy. That's why I suggest the engineer wrench thing. Then they couldn't dive on their sentry as it's one hit from blowing up and make it impossible to kill.

If they want an uber sentry they have to stand there healing the whole time otherwise give people a fucking break. So sick of stalemate games due to sentries no one can take out.

I don't find sentries that hard to kill most of the time, and keeping mine alive is difficult if there's more than one enemy player attacking it. Sure if it's just one soldier it's not so bad. But if a demo can get 4 stickies on it it's a guaranteed destruction every time. Pyros and scouts can circle strafe them easily enough (I do it as pyro all day) if they're in corners, and if they're out in the open they're fairly easy for soldiers, demos, and spies to get and get you.

Also if you have a continual sapper/wrench war, the sapper always wins, because it does damage while on, but your wrench doesn't repair until you knock it off and then manage to hit while it's off. You'll lose against a spy standing on the other side sapping it every time. The better spies can often get behind you, backstab, and sap the sentry before it turns around, I've done it as spy before.

The main problems I'm having now is the demos. Grenades (non-crit ones) still kill me in one hit, even with the HP boost to 225. That's ridiculous. They just find a choke point and camp it with stickies all day and there's really nothing you can do except hope someone else runs through and gets blown up first. Then all you have to do is dodge the 4 instant kills he's got in the clip or hope he doesn't just run backwards dropping stickies at your feet, which you've got pretty much no defense against.

I just remember the good old days of the ORIGINAL team fortress for Quake 1. No Team Fortress will ever beat that one.

I gave it 3 stars... as it was a decent game.. I can just find many that are much more enjoyable (for me)
