just rented this last night and im pretty impressed so far. interesting twist on the sci fi genre. not about run a gun at all, and you dont have traditional laser guns. your first weapon (and the only one ive seen thus far) is a mining tool called a plasma cutter. it shoots a horizontal or vertical burst of plasma and you use it to dismember the baddies as thats the only way to kill them.
you collect credits and power nodes which are used to purchase new items and upgrade your weapons/armor. nodes can also be used to unlock certain doors which may contain cool items.
you also have a "stasis" ability which slows down objects and enemies. this allowed the developers to implement puzzles and throw some seemingly overwhelming enemy encounters at you.
ill add to this review more as a i get a little farther in the game, but i think i might have to pick this up. i was expecting a lot less from an EA title, but i was wrong. they also pull off the creepy, alone on a spaceship vibe. jumpy and scary. :D
