It's getting quite a mixed reception from what I'm hearing. A bit of a love-it or hate-it affair I think.

The setting & atmosphere look superb though, which is enough to pique my interest anyway.

It is a love it or hate it kind of game...i fucking love it for goddamn sure though. *goes to play assassin's creed*

I tracked this game down since early 06', anticipated a breakthrough in gaming and was EXTREMELY disappointed. Repetitive sounds, bad AI, horrible fighting system, and a boring ass story line twist.

I have lost hope for all next gen games besides Resident Evil 5 and FFXIII :)

about to beat it. There are DEFINITE flaws ( i broke a controller cause of some problems the sometimes shitty control scheme caused me...and i never break anything)...but if you are a patient person it's a wonderful experience :) i loved all of it, except when said control issues killed me.

Highly recommended.

I looked up "Assassin's Creed multiplayer" and found out there is none. This is the point at which I decided I'd never get this game.

I basically refuse to buy games now that don't have online multiplayer. The only exception I've made to this was Wii games and Dead Rising for the 360.

I had the same experience with BioShock. No multiplayer? No money.

Whats up with the tiny little words that corresponds to the controls? Is there any way to make them bigger? Do I need a bigger screen tv? HELP!!

Without any biased opinionating, the game is actually the bullshit sickness. That being said it's not without it's faults. Unfortunately...some of those faults are instant game killers.
I mean, from the good side, the free running system is revolutionary, expect it popping up alot from now on. Its fun, easy, and looks so fking awsome. The scenery is second to none at present. There really are some breathtaking moments in that game.
The story was incredible too, I cant remember who above was saying it sucked, but please, tell me what your comparing it too, because that game must be off the fking chain. The story in this is optional, alot of it requires finding, which is awsome. Look hard enough, and youll start questiong shit in real life.

The bad....to put it simply, the entire damn game is the same thing. Little real choices, repetative missions, and no sense of exploration. Instead of making you find things to do, the map shows you where everything is.
Thats my only real gripe with AC, the rest was amazing edge-of-ya-seat shit and I loved every other bit of it.

^^^
To come to the defense of your last paragraph, the map in the game does not show you everything. There are side missions to do, and it's only as repetative as you make it. Just like all other games out there.

Assassins Creed is actually by far the smoothest and best done visually game to date. PS3 version has had it's problems, they're trying to work out, but with the 360 version I haven't noticed a damn thing that I'd complain about.

I had been waiting for this game to come out for the longest time, and have not one bit been disappointed.

this game is fun. i agree with trancey in that in only gets as repetitive as you make it, but they definitely could've varied up the missions. it's a great concept but i think a lot more could've been done to make it a truly great game.

this is a must for those who prefer the stealth genre.

when you guys are talking about finding the story, are you referring to the present?

Yeah atri, I was referring to side conversations that allowed you to....delve deeper into the game's story, but not make you.

Hey Trancey, could you clarify the side missions for me please? Do you mean the Eavesdrop/Interrogate/Pickpocket/Random Flags quests? Becuse they do actually show you exactly where to go to activate those on the map. In the later areas, as soon as you access a viewpoint the surrounding challenges appear on the map.

I was just saying that I felt led through the game in this regard. I would have liked more exploration personally. And I don't believe I was given the choice....hence I can't agree with you when you say that AC is as "repetative as you make it". There was no choice, the side missions "did" show up on the map.

I too waited a very long time for this game, and that is exactly why I was dissopointed. Everything AC does well it does brilliant. But in more simple areas....mission design being key here...there was a serious lack of variety.

borrowed a mate's copy and have been thoroughly impressed so far. beautiful scenery and physics, i particularly love the climbing. only a little into the game and already finding it very repetative, but not in any gamekilling way.

i'm using this as something to distract me from GTAIV for a short time.

i like the story so far too.
