vapor
why talk in such a changed way? only
because you cannot settle for the settled
& resort to chewing tea-leaves,
hoping something friendly will filter through
dawn’s smoke-blind seizure
*
now that desire feeds
only on itself
(looking through you
while vaping its own tail)
the house slows
& sinks
but something hovers just beyond
the window, vying with those others
keeping watch in fictive corners of the room
*
difficulties press /
conditions worsen
‘for the better’ (?)
*
facing yourself
all gates open
better watch your breath
(This is an old poem of mine that I recently tweaked and published in The Black Veil on Medium. I thought some of the BL Words crew might also appreciate it.)
