Using LSD to get over using other drugs

I've done acid before and am going to be tripping this next weekend with a friend. I've heard stories of how LSD can be effective to help alcoholics trying to get sober or to help someone stop smoking cigarettes, by revealing to them and confronting the reason why they use the substance. I am stopping smoking weed, and by my own decision I will likely not be using any drugs for sometime after this trip. I was wondering if anyone has had experiences with LSD helping with that. Does anybody have any tips to have the trip perhaps provide some insight into sobriety?

BTW, I'd be totally happy if it was just a good, positive experience for us, not expecting to get something out of the trip. But if it could shed some light on my decision of sobriety I think that would be all the better.

LSD is tricky, but the last time i used it revealed to me the dangers of my DXM use and made me realize what an inferior drug it is compared to acid. LSD also gave me extremely magical insights on life, philosophy, relatironships, and most importantly... the difference between LSD and Psilocybin (really hard to explain). good luck and happy tripping.<3

In my experience LSD can definitely be used for meditating one's decision to get sober. About 2 years ago I did exactly that. I've been an alcoholic for about 6 years now and I've been wanting/trying to get sober for a few years. 2 years ago I decided to take a low dose of LSD at home by myself when my partner was at work. I pre-planned what I was going to do during the trip, what music I was going to listen to, got some coloured pencils and paper so I could draw, and actually wrote a list of topics in my life that I needed to meditate on. So it was a very premeditated activity. I ended up having a very beneficial trip and was sober for 2 weeks afterwards (which is monumental for me).

However I suspect that if you were just going to take acid and have a good time, even if you had some spiritual moments during the trip, if you don't have time and/or aren't prepared to really delve in to your issues surrounding drug/alcohol use during the trip, you're less likely to really get any long-lasting sobriety out of it.

The other thing to take it to account with LSD is that it lasts a relatively long time. I have read/heard that shorter-acting psychedelic drugs can be more useful for meditation purposes. But hey, everyone's different, and you won't know until you try it out :)

Let us know how it goes and if you have any success with getting sober as a result. Good luck! <3
