A Florida woman who was summoned for jury duty was busted after allegedly bringing drugs with her while she fulfilled her civic duty, authorities said.

Kristine Victoria Mittler, 39, went to the West Pasco Judicial Center to report for jury duty Monday but was arrested after drugs were found on her person, the Bradenton Herald reported.

Pasco County Sheriff?s Office said Mittler set off an alarm while going through the security screening at the courthouse entrance.

Officers searched her and found packets of white powder in her cargo pants. The substance was later confirmed to be cocaine, according to officials

Deputies said they also found a straw with traces of methamphetamine.

The prospective juror admitted to officers that she ?forgot they were in her pants pocket,? according to news station WTSP.

Mittler left the courthouse in handcuffs and was booked at Land O?Lakes Jail. She faces charges for possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Shows up for mandatory jury duty and lands up with charges.. should have "lost" that in the mail, but she did not and showed up for her civic duty.

I'm thinking she will rightfully walk, as bananas points out, what legal president requires this woman submit to a personal search to fulfill a required civil duty?

Seriously, that would be pretty sad if they go for charges related to “a straw with race of methamphetamine.” I imagine they go for pressing this just to coerce her to plead out, but it’s still ridiculous. Especially when there is a prosecutable bag of cocaine involved.

Glad I live in a place where that kinda of trumped up charge is no longer possible.

Otherwise, while I kinda feel bad for her, you’d thinking bringing drugs to jury duty was an obvious no go... people will be people I guess. And when they live in states with laws like FL, well you can be assured they won’t be treated like people.

Then again, I’d love her prosecutors to prove me wrong....

You should see in my area where I live because public transport is bad at night a lot of people drink and drive. Northern Beaches is the first or the second in the state of NSW here in Australia for drink driving charges. After someone exits court for a drink driving charge there will be sometimes police at random seeing if these people will walk to their car and drive away even though their license has been suspended for a year or 2.

There are some people out there who really don't think when it comes to the law.
