So, i want to study medicinal chemistry next year, and im stuck between choosing a uni or an IT.

both places offer honours degrees in medicinal chemistry, and the modules taught are very similar.

will an employer have a specific preference?

btw the IT is ranked as the best IT in ireland (Dublin Institute of Technology) and the uni is also ranked as the best university in ireland (Trinity College Dublin).

I would apply to both and go from there. Maybe visit each of them and meet with the advisors to see which program you feel more comfortable in.

Are there any statistics on graduation rates? If one school graduates more students than the other, you would prolly want to go to that one because that likely means they work harder to keep students from failing.

Do they have scholarships you can apply for? This is another consideration. I applied to four or five different colleges my senior year in high school and the one I chose was the one that gave me the most money to attend.

I'm just trying to get you thinking about other things besides which one is supposedly the best. You want to choose a school that will give you the most money to go there, has the best retention, and also I would look at average class size and teacher-to-student ratio. The more students per teacher, the less attention you are likely to get.

I would worry about all these things before worrying about what an employer will think. A complete and successful education is paramount. If you make good grades and take advantage of research opportunities, the jobs will come to you. Just my opinion.
