I was just watching today tonight, and they were interview some guy (do know who sorry), about the increasing use of esctasy amounts youths, because it keeps them awake unlike alchohol... The host posed a question to theman saying "So surely you rather see youths go back to drinking if their was a choice, at least been a safer alternative.."
His reply was.. "well i wouldn't go that far, all i can say is their is far far less xtasy related deaths, than their is alcohol related, even as a percentage of users."
Go the media, backing up us guys for once!

I guess it just depends on what "experts" the shows feature. thankfully this one had somebody who probably didn't have a bias or a zero tolerance approach to ecstasy. so i guess it comes down to choosing whose opinion you trust or is more likely to be accurate. i remember that horrod 60 minutes feature a couple of months back where the "experts" were two members of the police force; one an undercover who described glow sticks as dangerous drug accessories ("you'd be worried if you caught your child with a crack pipe, why aren't you worried about this?"), and the other, a man whose evidence "indicates" that effects of ecstasy could last "a very long time."

today tonight have contacted johnboy in regards to a follow up story on enlighten. ie. pill testing/harm reduction, if he wants he can expand on it, but within a few weeks there will be another story

And perhaps tape the followup someone? And possibly post when it's gonna be on, 'cos I don't usually watch TV but would be willing to make an exception

I look forward to being informed

there will be an interview re: the testing stall on sydney radio 2UE tomorrow morning, if any of you nightowls is up at the ungodly hour of 7:40. 2UE is at 754 (i think!) on your AM dial, or you could listen to the webstream here
can anyone capture and tape this stream? i'm gonna dub it onto good old tape cause i'm backwards and don't have a soundcard, so i might be able to dub copies if ppl are interested in hearing it.

yep yaytima, the direct streaming audio link is here. you can use totalrecorder to record the stream through the soundcard, however ive never been able to get it to work through my soundcard, (Monster MX300). if all goes well someone is recording it and should be avaliable as an mp3 soon. goodluck mr.admin

"Hey man!"
*LMAO*
That was an excellent interview, although it's a pity there was no discussion of the heroin-in-pills myth. Much respect JB!
JB tells me he taped the stream and it'll be up on his website soon so i guess if anyone wants it, go to the source

Drugs are the answer, now what was the question?....

Yep have to agree! Well done jb.
And WHAT was with the guy's "hey maaaaan" spiel? Sheeesh that was lame.

That today tonight thing that started this thread was about some crappy tasmanian alcholic cider that a tassie MP wants banned because it is 8.8% alchol and is apparently marketed towards under age girls! Never! :}
I saw it on Sydney A Current Affair 9/1/01
The funny thing is that is was the conservitive Tassie MP that said the "less e deaths that grog' quote above!! Then they went to a break!
