Got myself quite heavily addicted to temazepam (without a prescription) and am now in a situation where I won't be able to get to the doctors to get scripted in order to be weaned off until wednesday. Just need a bit of advice really should I wait until it's bad and go to A&E or is there anything I can do to keep them at bay. Are opiates any use when without benzos. Could have a small supply of tramadol to get me through.

Heavily addicted?

You should never go cold turkey benzo withdrawal, in a few cases, depending on how heavily addicted you are, it can wind up quite dangerous. Can you get yourself down to A&E ASAP, or how about a walk-in centre?

On about 30 mg every 4 hours. If I miss a dose start getting the shakes within about an hour.
Have 60 mg left. Would an nhs walk in centre be able to prescribe me for the short term? Am just wondering if I go now to a walk in or a&e and am not showing heavy signs of withdrawal yet that they'll think I'm just going to try to score.

This is no time to be shy about going to the ER! I was and I ended up under my desk at work with no idea who I was, and in more pain than you can imagine because I had a grand mal seizure from going cold turkey from Xanax.

Now, I was using extreme amounts, but I have CT’ed off of much lower doses closer to what would be a normal daily dose and withdrawals can be hell.

I would say to be safe that if you start to feel bad be safe and go to the ER. Also maybe have someone drive you since driving and seizures don’t go well together.

Also, do NOT take the tram, it lowers your seizure threshold.

Yeah if it get's bad I'll go. Are there any other opiates that would help? codeine perhaps? what about booze?
I've exeperienced the withdrawals before and am just really not looking forward to it.

I have found that opiates can distract you a little from very light benzo withdrawal, but in no way will they help save your life like a benzo or barb would if things get really bad.

I could be wrong, and bet I am, but I don’t think opiates do much to reduce the seizure threshold, unless maybe at anesthesia levels.

I think booze would maybe actually stop you from having a seizure for a very short period of time but once it started to wear off, you would be in a worse situation than before you started drinking. Plus I don’t think staying drunk until your doctor’s appointment is realistic especially since this would mean going into the appt drunk and having been for a few days.

Opiates and booze are not smart options for benzo detox because opiates don't counteract the excessive stimulation from benzo w/d. Alcohol is just not sustainable for a "maintenance med" because it's toxic, but it would work to temprorarily keep withdrawal at bay.

I would find a way to get into an urgent care facility if you can. Don't take tramadol unless you want to have seizures.

Ok thanks for all the replies guys...I'll leave the tramadol alone.
How about phenazepam if I could order some today to receive tomorrow then I'm guessing with the correct dosage I could keep wd's away until wednesday.

I'd err on the side of safety and go to A&E ASAP. If you wait until it gets bad, it might be too late - prevention rather than cure, right?

edit, didn't see your most recent post: I think phenazepam would keep the withdrawals away as so long as you take them, but wait until others respond, I'm not too well versed on benzodiazepines.

Phenazepam will work as it is a benzo itself.

However let me caution you to read up on what you are getting yourself into and make sure you know what your are doing with such a powerful substance.

You don’t want to end up stumbling into your Dr appointment on Wednesday all fucked up on phenaz, not even realizing your fuck up, then asking the Dr for a benzo script.

Get benzos however necessary. I'm not clear on the healthcare system in your country but generally speaking, telling a doctor your problem should cause them to help you as the withdrawal can be damaging / deadly. Phenazepam will work, but as mentioned, be smart if you go this route. Do liquid measurements and be absolutely sure not to go overboard. Also, use the last bit of temazepam to transfer as slowly as possible to the new benzo by taking split doses of each.

Phenazepam seems to be the key I need to get me some of that myself lol.

See a healthcare provider or get some other benzos somehow. You risk seizure and possibly death in extreme cases with benzo withdrawal.

check urself into a detox and dont sign a release to ur primary, round here they give ya Phenobarbital for benzo WD in Detox now cause people fucked it up whent hey used to taper with benzos...its a barbitrate, long acting, prevents seizures from occuring....dont tell ur doctor, he certaintly wont hand u a script and say "next time dont abuse ur benzo script" hes gonna tell u to go to detox...if i was a doctor id never give a patient a benzo script if they came to me honestly and said they heavily been abusing there script along with other benzos...it usually takes 3-4 days for benzo WD to peak where u can hit that window for seizures, etc....just go cop a few pills from some buddies or the hood...i did cold turkey WD on xanax, 8mg a day, i was in jail. lost 6 days of sleep, got delusional, hallucinating like crazy...wasnt pretty....my only thing i can suggest is what i did: I was on Xanax 1mg 3x.day, i ran out as i abused em, went to my Doctor told him i lost my bottle as i was moving into an apartment, and now im getting shaky, etc..he told me "i dont know you that well but i feel we should switch you to Clonazepam, 2mg in the AM, and 2mg in the evening, dont get me wrong xanax is a great drug, but if you run your in serious trouble.." to this day he wont give me any benzo with a shorter half life then klonopin...

Been about two days without. Am having symptoms of a mild psychotic episode, serious anxiety attacks, can barely get out of the house. No seizures but am waking up shaking like crazy in the morning. Have to get an appointment to see the doc tomorrow. Have already checked into her about tapering off them as I've been taking them without prescription and she knows the deal. Opiatekrzy wish I could just go and get some down the road but unfortunately London aint got the same sort of benzo availability. If it gets too bad by tonight I'll head to A&E just aint got anyone to drive me and would probably have a breakdown on the bus.

most primary doctors are hesitant to give out a script to someone honestly admitting they been taking benzos self medicating and in withdrawl. one time i faked alcohol withdrawl to my primary just to get valium cuz i was really in benzo withdrawl, then they just kept me on benzos ever since....valium they gave me, then gave me xanax, then now im on klonopin...some docs got diff beliefs

I'm sure that the OP has probably wrapped things up by now, but if I could give you and everyone else here on Bluelight just one piece of advice...

If you know that you're going to cold turkey w/d from a benzo, please, please do yourself a favor and have someone drive you wherever you need to go for a couple of days.

I was this close to getting into my car, like, on my way out the door practically when I fell to the floor and seized. If it had happened just two or three minutes later, well, then, I might not be typing this post right now, and that's a ridiculously frightening thought.
