I have been taking dxm almost everyday for the last two weeks it seems. Physically i feel fine and mentally i feel ok. Im wondering what the possible rebound effects will be. Has anyone else done this? What kinds of effects creep up after stopping dxm abrubtly from heavy use?

cant say i have. there are a lot of side effects when taken regularly.

from wiki:
A formal survey of dextromethorphan users[17] showed that more than half of users reported experience of the following symptoms individually for the first week after dextromethorphan use: fatigue, apathy, flashbacks, and constipation. Over a quarter reported insomnia, nightmares, anhedonia, impaired memory, attention deficit and decreased libido. Rarer side effects included panic attacks, impaired learning, tremor, jaundice, urticaria (hives) and myalgia. Frequent and long-term usage at very high doses could possibly lead to toxic psychosis and other permanent psychological problems.[1]

Erectile dysfunction and diminished libido can be a longer-term effect (years to decades) of many narcotic analgesics due to development of central hypogonadism; this appears especially common in individuals with significant melanin deficiencies, as the hormones tied to melanin production affect the absorption and conversion of these analgesics into progesterone.[18] Additionally, the haplotypes of about 48% of the indigenous population of Great Britain aggravate the condition, as the E647 sequence underwent epigenetic degradation and became a pseudogene. The chance of vulnerability is doubled for males, as the critical sequence is located on the X chromosome.

Uh, you should be fine if you feel fine. If you stop, you might feel anxious, and depressed, and emo, and experience anhedonia.

But I can binge for a month and all I get when I stop is a few days of depression and binge eating. Your results will vary!

^ this is god-awful advice.

Most physical problems that result from substance abuse are not readily apparent to users unless they are comprehensively evaluated by a medical professional. "If you feel fine, you are" is some of the worst logic I have ever heard. Most cigarette smokers damage their throats and are unable to expectorate the mucus their smoke inhalation produces so they might feel fine until after they quit but does that mean they aren't doing serious damage? Absolutely not.

It's really hard to answer the initial inquiry thoroughly without knowing the doses, preexisting medical or mental health issues, etc. but with DXM, the most serious consequences are usually psychological. Theoretically, olney's lesions are possible but I am unaware of this phenomenon being demonstrated clinically from DXM abuse.

Any substance binge can be severely detrimental mentally and increase your risk for mental dependence and exacerbate mental health conditions. Really, the most important thing to explore here it seems would by WHY you chose to binge on DXM so excessively for that period. It would do you a world of good to work with someone to explore why you did that and get to a place where you wouldn't consider doing that to yourself.

I would seriously recommend avoiding the DXM and preferably other substances as well for sometime while getting plenty of exercise, rest and eating well. Perhaps consider supplementing with 5-HTP as well to help restore healthy serotonin levels and better regulate your mood, sleep and appetite.

Take care of yourself.

when i used to binge on dxm i would sigma hard and start to go completely insane. At first i would just be eccentric then weird and eventually i would start acting like a complete psychopath.

Some folks report lingering mental effects upon frequent (or one time) use, but if you're not feeling anything thus far, then I would not expect any issue. Personally I find it sometimes takes a month+ to feel completely normal after a dissociative binge, but it varies depending on frequency of use/dosage/other life circumstances.

Yeah.. its been a couple days now and i feel no physical or cognitive impairments. Maybe itsb because i supplement heavy on fish oil and lichithen daily.
