tv: American Dad ( from the creator of family guy)

So, did anyone watch the superbowl? Did anyone watch the premier of the new family guy spinoff american dad?

I laughed about twice. The only classic joke was switching the goldfish with the german skiier. hehe.

But the show felt way rushed, which I think it is. I think it will kinda be how futurama was to the simpsons. It seems like the show is meant for adult swim. It's wackier than family guy. I just hope the show is better in may.
 
Didn't watch the superbowl but i did switch back to fox to see the new simpsons nd American Dad. I laughed more than twice, the show had it's moments, there were some funny jokes but it's nowhere near as good as Family Guy and I think they only made this show to cash in on starting the new FG eps in May. I may watch it if there's nothing else good on at the same time but it's not something I'm really looking forward to.
 
They should just make more family guy episodes. Its basically the same show.
 
I was a little dissapointed in it, excepting somthing as funny as family guy. But it was still well worth the watch. Like God's call to Bush :)
It seems like they took away some of the slap stick comedy from family guy and added in some political humor to make american dad.
 
I was not impressed. I loved family guy, and futurama 20x more. (IMO you have to be crazzzzy to not enjoy futurama, then again I might just be a sucker for pop culture references and the future...) I'm excited for the new family guy episodes in May, and I really hope they didn't tone it down too much but I do have faith....

cheap as fuck. maybe fox could break down and actually pay some actors. i cracked a smile, no laughing
 
barely cracked a smile as well... when i realized they were setting up that alien squirting to become a thing of every episode. stupid
 
The squirting alien was stupid, but I thought the CIA thing has potential as a premise.
 
^^i agree.. they could do all kinds of wacky stuff with that...


2psychetool: futurama is my favorite as well, and yeah i cant understand how someone may not enjoy it!!!
 
this episode is better than the one that aired after the superbowl, but not something i will make an effort to watch every week.
 
It had its moments, but I think it tried too hard to match up to "Family Guy." More random jokes and fewer running gags would have helped a lot, I think. However, I liked that the old McFarlane irreverence was still in evidence.

I still plan to watch a few more episodes to see how it turns out, especially considering that when it first came out I didn't even like "Family Guy."

I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5.
 
The characters suck. First episode bombed and the second, while improved, doesn't stand up to the other giants like malcom, simpsons and of course family guy.

I think the show is pretty bad, even it were to stand alone without a "Family Guy" ever existing. Even if it werent, the wife's fishlips would make me hate it. ;)

I'm sad to say that I think American Dad will drag Family Guy down a bit. It is basically going to be like having another episode of Family Guy on at night, only the second being rather poor. Its just too much of the exact same kind of humor.

i thought it wa rather accurate. the simpsons and futurama are created by the same people, and american dad and family guy are created by the same people.

they both have the exact same animation styles per group respectively.

futurama is better than american dad of course, but i don't think that's the comparison he was aiming for.
