Hi there,

I have been wanting to try mdma for a long time and I now have the opportunity to take what im told is some good quality E, with my best friend. However, I am concerned because I am on a drug called accutane for my skin. I take it every other day or so. Does anyone know how these drugs interact with each other? I've done some research, but only found mixed opinions.

You would be fine because accutane is used to treat acne by preventing pimples on the skin. It doesn't really have much to do with the brain and therefore, should not interfere with your roll. Medications that would interfere with your roll would include antidepressants, such as zoloft, because they mess with the serotonin chemistry in the brain.

word...have fun...and think good thought..and gl with the acne..ive heard bad shit about accutane and the side effects

^accutane can have some crazy side effects like depression and thoughts of suicide. I'm guessing that it has some effect on brain chemistry.
I don't know the specifics on accutane's pharmacology, but others might.

Since the 1980s, scientific research has suggested a relationship between isotretinoin administration and the onset of psychological symptoms including depression, suicidal ideation, and psychosis.[56] However, there have also been studies arguing that there is no evidence of such a link

Studies have shown that patients with acne, the population group eligible to receive isotretinoin therapy, have an increased risk of clinical depression compared with the general population.[62][63] Chee Hong describes Isotretinoin-related depression as "an idiosyncratic side-effect", claiming, often anxiety can bring on acne and depression, creating more anxiety.[64] Correspondingly, treatment of severe acne with isotretinoin has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression, for tests have shown acne to be a main depressant in most tested patients' live

Accutane is a retinoid that indeed DOES have some gnarly side effects on mood in some people. It is also known to cause serious birth defects and has a pretty bad side effect profile, so proceed with caution.

That said, I'm sure people have taken the two together in the 25+ years that MDMA's been around. I would avoid taking them close together time-wise and start with a half dose to be sure.
