It was because we "needed" to contain Communism. How old are you by the way? You don't even know high-school history.

Vietnam was a war of its own that the US should never have been involved in, just like every other war we've ever been involved in. We haven't fought on our own soil since the Civil War. All our warfare more recent is terrorism.

Ye I knew that I just mean why in Vietnam specifically. There are other communist countries so why Vietnam.

I’m 46 and have barely any education. This is a drugs forum though so what u expect.

There had been many, lesser, terrorist attacks in the years previous, such as the bombing of the Cole (17 dead). People were angry about this.
A strong response to a terrorist attack could and would save Bush's cookies.

It's unlikely that Bush had a clue as to the level of the attack planned. He could have thought it would be a run of the mill terrorist attack.
Do I believe Bush would sacrifice thousands of American lives to help himself politically? I'm pretty jaded, so, maybe, I guess.
But now, do I think Bush would sacrifice 17 or so Americans to help himself politically? Yes, I do. Yup.

The song and dance that happened after 9/11 with us marching into Iraq less than 2 years later was also just a bit too perfect.
It came to light that the administration had had a plan to "encircle Iran by occupying Iraq and Afghanistan" for some time as well.
That decade's plan 2025, I reckon.
Didn't hurt that they both had all that darn oil.

And, my fellow Americans started telling me on a regular basis that that oil was ours by right since we were bigger and stronger. 'Merica.

I do question 9/11. The buildings being, obviously not empty; but more empty, the plane that wasn't shot down even though they announced it was and predicted it to be. The pentagon suspicious too. Flying the Bin Laden family out of the country when flights were grounded. Etc

BUT I do not know enough about that one to call conspiracy theory on it. I have suspicions but pure speculation mostly

This is a point fake patriots hate and something we are very fortunate for. Not fighting on our own soil that is.

But, you don't need all that. All you need is Bush "looking the other way" to a surprisingly small degree at the right time. He could have thought it was to be a small attack or he could have known the full extent. Doesn't matter. All the elaborate conspiracy theories you hear are possible and some may even have happened. But, they're not needed. Good old boy politics and small acts with plausible deniability can do it all.

Years ago I was active in fighting a development right next door. Started as a movement to get screening and turned into a generalized resistance to the development when they refused to consider us. We "won" and then 5 years later they came back. That happens a lot.

The Township Trustees gave lip service to serving the residents, but of course will actually want the development for the tax dollars. It ended up a messy battle with neighbor against neighbor, property damage, threats of violence... I went door to door, made up newsletters, manned petition tables... I found the best and the worst about American politics that summer.

The Township Trustees, as said, were actually sabotaging our neighbors group and in cahoots with the developer. This was eventually proven.

Even at the level of a Township Trustee, people can do quite well for themselves by cozying up to a politician. Townships buy homes to add land at fantastic prices, knowing future development for the same reason, cushy govt jobs... a person could become quite well off by garnering the favor of a politician.

So, the threats, the fights, the vandalism, all that, happened simply by the local politicians throwing hints and making "chance statements". Some of the nastyness was darn organized, but not by the politicians. No cigar smoke, no conspiracy, no "collusion". Just politics as usual.

And lives are collateral damage. Don't even consider that, it's not a factor.

Now if a Democrat had that gun......it would be equally as stupid and tragic. (for us; the people)
