The settings have been changed so you don't have to be registered to start a thread in Trip Reports. This is to help the people who want to write about their experiences but prefer to remain anonymous. People are still encouraged to register, but privacy can be an important thing and we want minimal restrictions on the exchange of information.
One drawback is that if you post a report as <unregistered>, you will not be able to edit your thread or make any replies. Please keep that in mind if you choose to post anonymously. As always, contact a Trip Reports moderator if you need assistance or have special circumstances.

Sorry, just two quick notes....
1. If you click the "You can now post anonymous trip reports!" banner in the Trip Reports header, it actually sends you to this thread in the Announcements and Feedback forum. You don't have to post your trip report in A&F, you can just go back to the Trip Report forum and start a thread there. No big deal either way....
2. Someone asked me how many forums at Bluelight allow anonymous (unregistered) posting. Right now it is just three: The Dark Side, Trip Reports and Announcement & Feedback. TDS and TR are for privacy reasons while A&F is for more practical reasons. (If someone can't log into their account or can't register, then they have to make an unregistered post in A&F to ask for help.) Hope that information helps, but please email me directly if you have more specific questions.
