Tramadol: How dangerous w/speed?

My worst experience ever was the time I took some Tramadol while being on Ritalin (Methylphenidate). Really felt like I was about to die. I do not recommend mixing Tramadol with any type of stimulant or really anything at all.

The effects of Tramadol are subtle enough to muddy it up with speed or Ritalin. The opioid for discerning connoisseurs

I've heard Tramadol can cause seizures due to its property of inhibiting serotonin reuptake, and the risk increases at higher doses

How about combining it with stimulants such as adderall or methamphetamine? Has anybody had or know of somebody suffering seizures from this combo?
Hi, I've been on Tramadol SR 150mg 1 twice daily since 2018.
I'm also on Dexamphetamine 40mg twice daily, Vyvanse 70mg 1 daily and Cymbalta 120mg daily.
Whenever I'm at the doctor getting scripts a warning comes onto the screen regarding seizures so within the medical profession it is a concern that these meds combined create a greater risk of seizures.
Also, last time I was at the psych and he prescribed me Vyvanse, he told me of his concerns regarding Tramadol mixed with the stimulants and the risk of serotonin syndrome.
I have never had a problem with either seizures or serotonin syndrome, and I regularly take my meds at greater quantities than prescribed.

I am 37 and I spent from the ages of 18-27 with temporal lobe epilepsy that was non-responsive to anti-convulsants.
After a SECOND major brain surgery in 2010 my seizures disappeared and haven't returned. I am 11yrs seizure free as of the 2nd June.
I took loads of MDMA from the ages of 18-23 and the way serotonin syndrome has been described to me, it just sounds like the symptoms associated with taking a lot of MDMA which I have had experience with.

I actually came across Bluelight for the first time in 2002 when my love of MDMA developed. It used to be at Bluelight.nu and people would post about local ecstasy pills doing the rounds.
Other drugs I was a regular user of include Marijuana that I smoked daily using bongs from 2002-2006. This is something that I have always missed, but when I am doing that I can't do anything else in life. I am not someone to smoke and socialise, and I would spend all day everyday alone, except for trips to the shops. This was ok at the time because I was having random epileptic seizures and really didn't want to socialise anyway. The Marijuana was a way of self medicating during those tough times.
I have also been physically dependent on Oxycontin 20mg tablets back in 2010 when I was put on them following the brain surgery.
As well as physically dependent on alcohol which I used heavily in my epilepsy years and the years that followed. I had to medically detox at hospital at least 10 times between 2010-2016.

Tramadol for me has been the best anti-depressant I've ever tried. It was originally prescribed for pain however and continues to be, but my GP knows I am using it as an SNRI (or is it SSRI? I can never remember which) and when used in combination with the Cymbalta (and now stimulants) my depression is non-existent. Unfortunately in the nanny state that is Australia, Tramadol can only be prescribed for pain, and 12 months ago it became even harder to acquire as the classification changed. It's only because I have been on it a long time and have a very accommodating GP that I am still on it at all.

I will say however that I am now 100% physically and psychologically dependent on the Tramadol and Cymbalta. If possible for an individual, I wouldn't recommend starting on either.

I was once overseas and ran out of Cymbalta and had a crazy time withdrawing. I couldn't sleep and would be up in the middle of the night reading books feeling totally spaced out.
After a week I wasn't experiencing any symptoms at all and things like my sex drive improved. After returning from overseas I was hoping, having gotten off the Cymbalta, that I would stay off it for good. But not long after, about two weeks, my depression returned and I went back on it.
If I ever come off Cymbalta again it would be by tapering off, but after my experience last time with my symptoms returning, I don't think this will be anytime soon.

Only 2 weeks ago I ran out of Tramadol and missed a doctor's appointment to get more. Here's a timeline-
On the Wednesday I took my last dose of one 150mg SR tablet
Thursday I felt a bit more tired than normal, but nothing much else.
Friday I missed the doctor's appointment and by Friday afternoon I was restless, irritable and discontent. I just couldn't get comfortable and my sleep was awful. Not once did I get into a deep sleep cycle all night.
Saturday was a nightmare with the same symptoms as last night plus loss of appetite, nausea and a complete inability to get comfortable.
Normally I would use TV as a distraction when I was withdrawing from anything, but on this occasion I felt so crap I couldn't even watch TV.
Sunday morning I waited outside the doctors clinic and saw another GP who was not my regular, but was able to prescribe me the tramadol as he could see on the system I was normally prescribed it, and he gave it to me on a private script.

Tramadol, like Cymbalta, is something I will have to taper off. But to be honest I'm not in any rush to do so because my life has been so much better on Tramadol.

I am prescribed Diazepam (Valium) 5mg which sits in my medicine cabinet for when I require it to help me sleep.
I will take half a tablet about twice a month for exactly those purposes. Diaz has been the only drug I have never had a problem with overusing.
Diaz for me will make relaxed not long after taking, but the side effects the next day of barely being able to get out of bed far outweigh the relaxing effects.
If I have a particularly nerve-racking event on I will take some to get me through it and it really helps. I took about 25mg a few years ago at my wedding which made me calm enough to get through my vows and the whole crazy day.
I don't understand the recreational benefits of Benzo's such as Diazepam because for me I just don't get any sort of buzz.

So there's my story and I hope it helps at least one person out there which will make the hour it took to write it worthwhile.

Seizures and serotonin syndrome are risks when taking the medications I've described, but they haven't been a problem for me.

If you've got nothing nice to say in response then please refrain from saying it. Good vibes only, keep your negativity away.

Btw- Today so far I've had 4 tramadol SR 150mg all at once, Vyvanse 70mg and Dexamphetamine 20mg.
I will have Cymbalta 120mg tonight, and I'm about to have another 20mg Dexamphetamine.

Peace and joy to all

Ughhhh... honestly, I’d use codeine if I was going to taper off with something else. Tramadol is such a dirty drug. When you stop it you’re stopping taking an SSRI, that comes with all the wonderful head zaps etc etc as well as the residual opioid withdrawal.

nahhh... I wouldn’t advise it but.., sometimes people need to find out themselves.
DUHHHHHHHH 🤪
Has MsDiz been on BL lately? I miss her fiery personality and outspokenness. She must have kissed the Blarney Stone

This is a great post and I'm curious how you've been doing lately? I consider that pretty whopping amount of dextroamphetamine, ir and delayed release. Is Cymbalta another stimulant on top of the others? Anyway wanted to acknowledge you and ask how it's going with the Tramadol. You gave me an idea to ask for the small amount of Tramadol for treatment-resistant depression although I wouldn't use that phrase it sounds too much like a Bluelighter and which my nurse practitioner psychiatric "Flo" would probably nix it as she already flows benzos and dexedrine. But it never hurts to ask right

I have been using daily tram, while smoke meth.its not good idea.they potentiete somehow, vut it could be dangerous and let you to seizure.tram is speedy on it's onw way somehow
