Torch Lighters and Herb

Is it just me or do bong rips lit with a torch lighter get you higher than normally with a Bic?
 
Just got one of these, was so scared the force of it was going to throw all of my stuff everywhere.
 
why? i think because it burns more material at one time, allowing the vaporization of more THC at one time for you to inhale.
 
i use em for gravity bongs... other then that i stick with the good ole bic
 
I've used both kinds of lighters and I've really not noticed a difference in terms of being "higher".

When I get really high and I have the torch lighter though it ends up freaking me out. I keep feeling like I'm going to burn my face or something stupid like that.
 
Hitting it slow and over a smaller area would get you higher. Blazing your whole hit at once destroys THC, and even more so with a torch lighter. Torch lighters are fine, hold it over for 2 secs and keep inhaling, it should burn by itself.
 
i would not use a torch lighter, bic is more than hot enough. but if i was stuck with nothing but a torch lighter, id do exactly as ason unique said--quick indirect application of flame.
 
Well yea prolly cause your burning off all the THC in the entire bowl with that welding torch your using son, use a regular bic lighter and save some for your buddys or atleast a few more tokes for yourself.
 
I Used a torch lighter once and it ended my bowl, gone in like 3 seconds. I Prefer just a clipper and touch it to the bowl to get it going, then let it burn itself. Gets ya a lot more smoke..
 
From a scientific stand point a bic lighter is too hot. The idea is to vaporize a compound not combust it. When you start using hotter temps the compound, in this case thc, will decompose into different non active compounds. What gets you high isnt the thc youve effectively destroyed using the lighter but what doesnt get hot enough to burn. Ideally you would be left with non burnt plant material and no thc. This is why people use vapos.
 
I prefer to not torch my bud, it bastardizes the flavor and wastes THC IMO.
 
for the same reason that a torch lighter is less suitable than a bic, it is also more suitable than a bic. although more heat is bad, a torch lighter is far more effective at RADIATING heat than a bic, which means you can keep the flame itself far from the bowl but still combust the herb at the lowest possible temp with the heat emanating off the tip of the flame. so yea, if you're just gently stroking the tip of the flame across the bowl it will undoubtedly introduce more viable thc into the smoke.
 
^makes sense. but just to talk some smack, im a mothafuckin' heat radiating pro with a bic. especially the green ones.

agreed. i hate when im smoking with my friends that are new to it, and i light the bong for them, and there like YOUR GONNA BURN MY FACE DUDE OMG!! Its like shut the fuck up and smoke
