...in a world which is doing its best night and day, to make you everybody else, means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting." - e.e. cummings

You'd be amazed at the number of things that should be common sense that elude the general population on a daily basis....
Such as the fact there is no general population.

A mystery inside an enigma wrapped in something orange and fuzzy....
"Ed Meese should be ass-fucked by an acid-crazed elk."-Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio. Than are dreamt of in your philosophy." -William Shakespeare, Hamlet

At the same time, any efforts to hide who you are never work. People always see just who you are anyway. So, trying to be at peace and fulfilled with that....

i need to get into ee cummings more. most quotes that i happen to run into and really like are by him. you think id take the initiative to go out and buy a damn book or something.
one day, some day. thanks for the post, i really like that.

The best of night's adventures are reserved for those who have nothing planned.
**you are your alter-ego**

a lot of people are happy to be somebody else. or to be fake normal people...
being yourself is a bit a challenge these days.

i dont even know who i am. so does that make me fake? "common sense takes precedence over all rules and regulations" the first thing you see when you open the air traffic controlers manual.

I was having a conversation like this with someone last week. I think the Captain America character said it best in Easy Rider.
"I've never wanted to be anyone except myself."

" you and I are not snobs. We can never be born enough. We are human beings;for whom birth is a supremely welcome mystery, the mystery of growing:the mystery which happens only and whenever we are fateful to ourselves. You and I wear the dangerous looseness of doom and find it becomming. Life, for eternal us,is now;and now is much too busy being a little more than everything to seem anything, catastophic included."
cummings, from New Poems.
In my opinion, he's the Twentieth century's best poet. He changed poetry in ways no one else could have. Jen, (and everyone else) you should go buy a book. Now!

--W. B. Yeats

Being yourself is pretty ok.

GL being yourself might be pretty ok, but being me is like being harrassed by Gonzo and Fozzy after theyve had too many hits of dirty blotter. i dont know if thats a good thing or not. you decide, or you deicide.

Great post!

I've noticed that only genuine people will really appreciate you for being yourself.
So frustrating swimming through a sea of pretenders to find someone who will be themselves.
