Ethnobotanicals Tips on using salvia as a quid?

I've never had issues drooling with salvia personally, but a few friends I've introduced to it have complained of drooling an annoying amount. Funny to hear of that somewhere else too. Coleus didn't make the same people drool but it's a different kind of trip in a way, that plant seemed to prefer being chewed whereas salvia preferred being smoked.
I remember trying to get high off coleus in my misguided teenage years before I could get better drugs. I’ve tried large quids of fresh leaves, teas of fresh and dried leaves, ethanol/acetone “hash” both smoked and oral and smoking dried out leaves.

I always wonder as people do report it being active (I’ve tried plants from a number of cultivars), as I’ve never gotten beyond the “I might be feeling something” level.

One other thing that kind of confuses me is I’ve never found reports of what compound is responsible for the supposed effects. As it’s in the lamiaceae family I would expect it to not be an alkaloid (though it’s more of a gut feeling).
I never got into chewing the leaf but I did buy Sieberts "Extraordinary potion of enchantment" which was some extract he made with alcohol. Used it sibluingal but it used to take the skin off the inside of your mouth with the alcohol. Then I'd lay down and trip a little with my eyes closed.
Aren’t salvinorin A tinctures typically done in acetone due to solubility issues? Definitely explains the causticity.

extraction uses alcohol or acetone but the tinctures use alcohol - acetone in small amounts is not toxic but is not normally in tincture and it always evaporates before alcohol does, and is not even present in small amounts in dry concentrates even if used as the method of extraction.

Somehow I couldn't open that - am I the only one?
This is a direct link to the paper on nature's website.

Just for reference, Salvia absolutely does cause down-regulation of the kappa opioid receptor and therefore tolerance as shown in this paper.
Tolerance not taking it ever again. :ROFLMAO: One experience in a life time, for the hardheaded still recommened.
As this a step over i think DMT, seem to littarally take you somewhere else.
Gravity/ sound/ visual 2d vision/ ego-loss and total disoocation. that realm not Tryptamine space.
Only thing common the short everlasting trip.

A trip of your lifetime, wonder if i had a 5x, 15 x or 25 x extract.
It was amazing strong and one of the first extracts on the market/ headshop.

edit: bout realm, it mosly reminds me of a dark sinister non stimulating dissociative.
With some additives. Report back if you go for the quid,
Very curious seems like a better way to get in Salvia land.

For what it's worth, I never had any luck with dried leaves. Fresh leaves worked reliably for me.

Well, I tried again, with only 1,5 g of dried leaves, but the only thing that happened was that the bitterness made me throw up breakfast rather quickly 😒... Smoked 50 mg of a 15x extract then (for now I have a balance capable of measuring that), but it wasn't enough for a real trip either 🙄.
Makes me wonder how I could stand the taste last time...
