Time is just a perception.... so, can I alter it sober?

So, I've done a few psychedelics, probably 30 trips in total, some being absolutely insane +5 mushroom trips.

In that super intense mushroom trip, it felt like a long long time. I remember a cigarette lasting me... well, a very long time. Hours maybe.

But is it possible in sobriety to create these massive time distortions? After all its just our mind yes that does this, our mind perceives time in a certain way.

If you could master time and be able to think so many thoughts in such a small amount of time, and view the physical world literally slower.. it would almost be a superpower. Besides doing craploads of mushrooms/psychedelics, how else do you think this is possible?

I believe that the mushrooms give us a state of ego loss and in this state of ego loss, time seems variable because it is the ego that interprets where we are in the universe. I believe in not space-time, but space-mind(which is the same thing, but realized that mind first interprets time and without mind time would not exist) and that we can be in multiple locations at once(metaphysically speaking) through our consciousness. Not only can we be in multiple locations, but multiple dimensions and timelines. I think what needs to be done is to still the mind and bring all of our consciousness to one point, to one center. By doing this, we will be established in Yoga and self realization. From here all ecstasies and desires are fulfilled.

As far as for being sober, I believe our normal, sober, ego mind has too many distractions wants and desires to be settled into this "now." In order for us to enter into this dimension of time, we have to drop our egos through another means, like mantras or meditation. The level at which we can enter into these other worlds and zones depends on our intensity and patience. I Think patience plays a huge role in this whole thing. If we are infinitely patient right now this very second and completely surrendered to the universe, this is a sort of ego loss and will allow our perception of time to change. For example, if i am waiting for the clock to the get to 3:00, its 2:58 and im urgently expecting those two minutes to pass by fast, It will seem like an eternity. However, If its still 2:58 and im waiting for 3:00, but i am patient, those two minutes will seem like two seconds. So, you can see that our level of intensity and patience are what determine how we interpret time. time is still the same two minutes, but our perception changes. With patience, we fall into the now and experience joy. With impatience, we fall into ego and misery.

Also, we view the world around us by the frequencies of our consciousness. If my consciousness is vibrating faster than another, then the same objective happening will be seen as moving slower than the consciousness vibrating to the lower frequency. I believe we can change the frequency of our consciousness with conscious behavior. The more conscious we are than the faster our frequencies will vibrate and the more still things will seem to be. This stillness grows deeper and deeper until its felt at a universal scale, and then even beyond. Our conscious efforts can be likened to a stream of water. At first, that stream may start off small, like single drops- plop...plop....plop. But after a little more effort, the drops become faster- plop, plop, plop! and after that they become still even faster until it becomes a steady stream, a steady flowing, No effort is needed at this point. You are the flowing. this is zen.

I have had moments where, at the increasing of my body's use of oxygen (breathing deeply and fully), I can create a feeling of being high. This is a pretty simple sensation, really. Give your body some quality oxygen and it will give back to you.

Just remember, time is not important. What is important is what you're doing right now. Time becomes a blur of illusion when this is sought.

Give zen a try, like High Yogi has mentioned. It's tough and the effects come in bubbles of illusory realizations, but in the long run, it'll help your sobriety become less effected by time.

Master time? Naah, I don't think so. For one, time isn't only on the clock, there's how we perceive time passing, too. Then there's looking at how we create the sense of past and future, etc. It wouldn't be time you'd be speeding up or slowing down, it'd be the flow of change, which isn't really time. Don't think that could be mastered... it's basically what runs the universe =D.

Naah, too many factors. In fact, you might have to add in the time woven into the time/space continuum... *BOOM* then mebbe =D
