and one of them is my DAD!!! yup.. good ol' dad is a cop... no, he is not aware of what his good little girl does on the weekends. hehe
anyway.. the point of the post... i just got off the phone with my dad, and we got on the topic of drug use... he told me that the other officers he works with get really upset when he says "you know the war on drugs? well, we lost." I was like GO DAD!! he also agrees that the best thing would be to have the street drugs manufactured by the government to eliminate bad batches, and also to clean out the prisons, and put a damper on all drug-related deaths (dealers and otherwise). hehehe.... i've never been so proud to be my father's daughter as I am right now....

I hate all cops regardless! If my dad was a cop I would hate him too, nothing personal.
It's not the person but the job, but being a cop is not a job, they brainwashed your dad at police academy. That's what he wants you to believe, that he is against the war on drugs and blah, blah, blah, bullshit. Why don't you go tell him that you take ecstasy and whatever drugs. See how happy he is about that. Try to explain to him that responsible drug use is not detrimental to our society, that ecstasy brings out the good in all of us. Excuse me if i seem negative, i feel strong about this subject. I have been shot at by cops without any reason, friends thrown in jail, etc...
I have nothing against your dad, he probably is a great father, but i hate what he does.

how about you hate what the BaD cops do? the ones you had problems with? there are GOOD cops.. and my dad is one of them.... he picked up a girl for shoplifting today... found some acid in her wallet.... DID NOT BUST HER FOR IT... just warned her that the next guy might not be as nice....
I respect your opinion, and I agree that there are some asshole cops out there(ok a LOT) ... but there are assholes in EVERY SINGLE PROFESSION... thats just the way of the world.

I have three uncles/cousins that are cops here in NJ. U should see how they live when not actually working at being a cop. One cross dresses on the weekends and the other two are major dorks (the typical ROTC kind). I can't decide which of them is worse. But cop reletives get you out of trouble from time to time.

know where they get it from I know some cops
and they are all the same they walk around with big chip on thier shoulder. THEY HARASS
PEOPLE just to show "HOW COOL THEY ARE"
EXAMPLE: i was at a after hours club one night 2 detroit police officers show up and sit everyone down and start telling everyone that they are going to jail so now they start asking irrelevent questions - ex:where do you live,work,what do you drive,etc.. so after an hour of DUMB interigation they throw everyones ID ACROSS THE CLUB AND SAY get your ID's and GET OUT OF HERE and "remember we are the 9th PRECINCT AND WE AINT NO JOKE" and the worst part of this was that all we were doing was listening to music and some people were doing balloons.point they were just showing there power and what really makes me angry is when you read about cops RAPING, ROBBING,not to long ago MOTOR CITY SOCIAL CLUB WAS RAIDED inside the club they found GUNS,DRUGS,PROSTITUTION,ETC... AND inside this club were 5 cops and 2 sheriffs deputys inside partying ....sorry i guess im rambling point is THEY ACT LIKE THEY ARE ALL THAT AND THERE NOT.......

12Tribes and tj-e: i think you're missing GlitterGirl's point entirely. i don't think any of us is lacking an "i hate cops story" - i know i have a quite a few, but I think you need to be a little more open-minded. yeah, a lot of cops (A LOT!) are bastards, but what she's trying to show us is some kind of "glimmer of hope"-type shit. here's one cop who isn't all bad. wow, that's great. it's really easy to make generalizations about people, and i do it a lot myself (mostly based on personal experience), but i'm always more than happy to find out i'm wrong in this kind of a situiation. i think you should be happy to find out that in the huge mass of asshole cops there's at least one who isn't so bad. oh nevermind....
 
actually 12tribes it seems like they werent able to brainwash him, i hold that attitude more towards people in the armed forces, thats definite brainwashing, depersonalizing the enemy so we can viciously kill them without any remorse or questioning

You are ignorant. Cops do a job that is a lot tougher than what most people on here do. They deal with human garbage all day. They put their life at risk for you; for your parents; and for your children. It is a sad reality that their outlook on life and people gets progressively depersonalized, the more they stay in the public service. It is easy to find a scapegoat, and to blame that what you don't understand - try actually talking to any cops you might come in contact with. Talk to them as people, not like they are some foreign species. You might be very surprised at what you learn.
 
my point is that cops ALL have that same ATTITUDE I have "friends" that are cops and i have found by personal experience they ALL think alike when it comes to "civilians" im not trying to be stereotypical and glitter im sure your dad is a GREAT GUY my friends are GOOD PEOPLE go tell your dad your what you do on weekends and im SURE he WILL NOT be very SUPPORTIVE... please dont be mad im only being REAL

Fuck them, give your dad a big ass e-hug for me the next time you see him. And as for 12 tribes, how many of you have told your parents what you do on weekends. Any parent would be conserned as hell.
There are cool fucking cops, and while narcs suck a lot of ass, remeber that there are other cops out there keeping shit going. These fuckers hunt down murderers, rapist, muggers and at least try to protect society. And not all cops have chips on their shoulders, fuck some of them just needed a job and being a cop is better than pumping gas. In my hometown all the cops were cool except some of the rookie fuckers, but they mellowed out too.
Lets not forget that while a disproportinate amount of cops are dickheads and are out to fuck with people, a lot are just people doing a job.
In lieu of recent events in NY and LA which have exposed the dickface side of a lot of cops, I'm not saying these guys don't need to shape the fuck up, I'm just saying that you can't go attacking all of them. We need them doing their job, mainly to protect people from the really fucked up people.
Still I wish they'd leave us the fuck alone. It's nice to know that at least some cops think on their own.
 
my uncle (who has been my father figure) is a federal agent, specializing in boarder seizures and a great unbrainwashed man. he has gone to court and vouched for young people he believed in and said hed take personnal responsibility for checking on them...(no where in his job descript). its due to his belief in god and that people are good but do wrong some cops believe backwards they look at society as bad. maybe those who hate cops have run into them.
for many years my uncle worked undercover busting cops who were bad, most cops dont even like internal affairs, but he believes they are the worse criminal we have.
he knows i do drugs and dosent agree but knows its my life so he prays and if i was involved in a bust he made id expect to be brought down, when i break the law i do so knowing full well i may face concequences, but if i lived where id have to be in his jurisdiction id probley live a different life as not to bring that on him or myself.
he agrees that we have lost a war on drugs that was just properganda from our government, which spends less on the war then we do on air conditioning in the 3 summer months..(i am also a subsatnce abuse minor in school) i started off thinking that id be better to legalize drugs but now know different, wed never be able to rid the us of the blackmarket the governments would be more expensive and then wed have to throw away the fda, and where would it stop would you want to get on an airplane that had a piolet high on heroin? or what about pregnant women or better yet the 12 year old little girl who now drinks even know its illigeal...i could keep going and i bet i sound completely hyprecritical but its something ive learned over time. i will continue to support good cops, illigeal drugs and my doing them is another decision i have made for me, but i am well aware of their dangers.

Ok, first of all, there are some fuct up people walking around every day who would not think twice about killing you, raping you, robbing you, etc. The only reason this doesn't happen (yes, even to you, 12tribes)is that we have chosen, as a people, not to be anarchists, and accordingly, to protect people with a domestic army of armed soldiers, ie police officers. They have a job and responsibility you apparently dont even fathom. Without those officers, the fact is, most of our lives would be worse. And sadly, it is also a fact that much of the crime that takes place is today rendered upon society by kids/young adults who like to party, etc-- those whom many of us assosciate with, maybe even us =) Therefore, it is natural that when coming into confrontation with such a group, cops go in with a certain attitude. That attitude makes them better cops. As for the whole drug issue, what the fuck is a cop supposed to do. Presumably we as a people have decided drugs are wrong and wont be tolerated (obviously you and i wouldnt agree with this, but laws are decided ~ideally~ by what the majority of citizens of this country want). therefore, the cop is serving the people, ie us, by enforcing the laws we have chosen. to attach the cop for doing so is like a sick fucking peophile condemning cops for busting his ass with an 8 year old girl cus thats what he likes to do. if you want to attack someone, attack lawmakers and get your ass involved, dont sit around and bash cops for doing their jobs. i really dont mean to sound too harsh here, i see your point and definitely feel your frustration, but such misguided frustration only makes things worse and fuels more animosity on both sides.

OKAY I DO AGREE THAT WE NEED POLICE IN THIS FUCKED UP WORLD but my point is that its not about "catching the BAD GUY" the whole court system is now a buisness ITs about MONEY! in my first example about the cops HARASSING US in that club they werent there because they thought they were going to do the world a justice they were there because they had nothing better to do and they felt like FUCKING with people and what REALLY MAKES ME ANGRY IS here in DETROIT theres some guy running around RAPING school girls walking to school and they cant catch this guy!!! but yet they have time to harass people listening to music having a good time not bothering anyone. like i've said i am FRIENDS with some cops and they are GOOD PEOPLE but ive talked to them and ive listened to how they think and its FUCKED UP I could go on for hours about there fucked ways of thinking for hours but...
POINT IS THEY ARE VERY DOUBLED STANDARD PEOPLE... i hope some sees my point and understands what im trying to say....
 
Okay, knowledgeble insight about police officers from I guy who had a 3.8GPA in his major field, Criminal Justice. Police are taught confidence in police acadamy. Many of my friends became quite arrogant after going through the acadamy and are just hardcore, yet drink like fish and drive drunk while off work. I have found older cops tend to be more laid back(learn to chill) so long as people are plite. Almost all officers suffer from a condition known to police psychologist as ALIANATION. Basically, officers are first taught they are the elite of society, and then come to realize the lack of appreciation and general contempt for their job. Thus, they devolope an "us against them" attitude. There are many good police officers out there and their decisions are almost always discretionary, thus, even if they are asking to search you, be sure to BE NICE when you say no. I decided not to pursue being a police officer when I saw what it did to my friends' relationships w/ non-police officers. I will probably someday go to law school, but for now, I'll just keep dealing w/ stupid people who squander their retirement savings.(I deal w/ corporate retirement accounts).

Someone from work was chatting with a cop who works the late-night shift in downtown Gainesville & he was saying how the ravers are so nice & friendly and that he'd rather deal with stoned or rolling people than drunk people anyday.
