At this point, Trump has absolutely shit all over our standing in the world. Both of his blunders feed into Russia's desires, too. We withdraw troops fom Syria to stop helping the Turks. Who we agreed to help because they do a shjit ton on the ground helping ud in our fight against ISIS. Now we leave them high and dry all of a sudden. Russia and Turkey are now on the table together, and whatever happens is up to them. America has no power in that area anymore. What's more, our credibility is damaged. It's a serious thing Trump did, it's going to cost lives. And I could almost respect it if he actually brought the troops home and entirely removed us from the middle east's affairs (that was what he said he was doing, "bringing the troops home" - by the way I think we helped cause the strife in the middle easy because of our oil wars since the 90s, so we have a moral obligation to help)... but the removed troops are going from Syria to Iraq. So no, it's either a move of incredible idiocy (most likely) or else, hey look, Russia's happy. If they could have chosen what we did in that situation, it would probably have been that. We played right into their hand. Same with the withholding of $400 million in aid to Ukraine until they investigated the Bidens... a 45 minute deposition (that's like a speech in xcourt, right? Because that's what I mean) by a career diplomat to Ukraine this week has rpduced some really damning stuff. Withholding the aid specifically for a personal reason... aid which had already been allocated by the senate and was expected and relied on by the Ukraine forces on the border with Russia. Lack of that aid would aLSO COST LIVES.
Trump's pathetic attempts at international efforts are such a bad thing for us. You can listen to the news from anywhere in the world pretty much and hear the same story. It's just a fringe segment of the news that tries to paint a good portrait of what's happening right. In reality it's an unmitigated disaster and this buffoon needs to exit the office ASAP. In my opinion it;s best to impeach so in the future people know they can't get away with whatever the fuck they want. But probably not remove, just let him get voted out in 2020, it would be less divisive. But my fear is that he'll get re-elected, and it's gonna really worry me if he does. His narcisissism keeps getting worse. He's drunk with power. He has no ability to lead this nation. It's a fucking joke. He's starting to really make a mess of things.
And his administration's suing of California to try to force them to not use their own emissions standards laws. The fuck? QWhat happened to state's laws? Small government. It shows he's sucking the fossil fuels indusitries' collective dicks. He's overturned so many environmental protection programs. It's sick. Enough already... for fuck's sake.

We love him down here in the South. I voted for him last election and will bleed red all over the ballot again. I agree that he has a mouth but the best part Is he owns it, doesnt apologize and fulfills his promises made during his campaign. If you look at all he has accomplished he should be heralded by the public. He was unnaturally demonized because he is a celebrity. If you look at him as a president you would be hard pressed not to be impressed. I think a lot of people are socially pressed by peers and media to continue defacing him unjustly. ~MAGA

It's views like that I have a hard time swallowing. What campaign promises has he fulfilled? name them. Meanwhile he fucks our position up in the world so bad. He just doesn't know what he's doing, and he's a narcissistic sociopath (it's clear if you ever listen to him talk or look at his tweets, I'm not just parroting some "leftist" news source. 20, 30 years from now history will have n unkind view of Trump, and rightfully so.

You realize we are slaves to China on paper, Trump is trying his damndest to reduce that but we all know the next POTUS will eradicate the progress because greed is a hell of motivator. Most presidents are puppets which is why a variation on the norm seems like an atrocity.

What about all the environmental deregulation and suing California to not be able to set their own standard? And the stuff I've been talking about in the middle east? And then releasing of media antitrust laws so that everyone is forced to repeat the right's talking points on most local news in the country? See, from what I can gather from watching this whole thing, Trump cares about Trump and that's it. The damage done to our international alliances and the protocols in place for environmental protections is already fucked. Trump may be trying to reduce our dependence on China, but he's doing a poor job of it.

No president is perfect, they all have shortcomings and leave residual problems for succeeding presidents. I think his successes outweigh the matters that have pitted him in a negative light. Of course we can always agree to disagree.

Can you let me know what successes of his you've seen? Just wondering, I've noted a few along the way but I have a feeling some of the stuff you will point to as success looks like failure from where I'm standing (for example the trade war stuff with China - I know some people think it's a good thing, however economists and myself find it quite damaging and a clear failure in implementation).
Also for me, environmental concerns are huge, since I believe in human-caused climate change (and not only that but also the other effects of pollution, including ocean acidification, killing off of coral reefs, 75% of the biomass of flying insects are dead, pollinators are in trouble, smog causes tons of sickness and death and used to in the US in the 80s, until we enacted clean air laws and now the problem is WAY better... yet this administration would have us go back to when people were getting sick from smog... look at China, it's horrible). In 50 years our descendents are going to look back at us and curse us for idiots for prioritizing a bunch of short-term financial shit over protecting the environment. So the fact that Trump is actively pursuing the dismantling of environmental protections, and even suing a state who decided they wanted to have better regulations for their state (what happened to state's rights, Republicans who support Trump?)... it means I don't support him. Just that alone would be enough for me to say he's a destructive president and bad for our country/the world.

at very least, to me, it looks like president trump tried to pressure a foreign country into investigating a political rival to benefit his own reelection chances. at worst - and much more stuff is coming out today after the taylor testimony - he's guilty of precisely the kind of high crimes which concerned the founders to the extent they included an impeachment clause in the u.s. constitution.

It's actually only the first time they have started impeachment proceedings. It was just talk about "should we" before. And some efforts by people to gather signatures, etc.
Anyway you didn't address the actual concerns. Doesn't it concern you that he is repealing clean air and water and other environmental protections? Protections which were enacted because of how bad it got decades ago? If it doesn't, it should. I would like to know what successes Trump has had that are more important than this. I'd actually like you to list the things you consider to be successes of his presidency in general. I have a growing list of things - actual policies, not "fake news", not involving his personality - that I strongly oppose. That's what I'm basing my lack of support on, not the "hate Trump train". I was upset he got elected because I saw what went down at his rallies and I had a bad feeling from his rhetoric, and I realized after a while that the media is ridiculous and tries to paint every little thing as a bad thing about him, it's just like the gossip mags, really. So I stopped buying into all of that, and started paying attention to actions he has taken as president. And I disagree with almost all of them (not all). So it would make no sense for me to support him as president. I don't see his actions as being worthy of my support.

it's become clear to me that there are some trump supporters who will continue to support him regardless of anything he says or does. a much larger group, i think, is traditional republicans (and perhaps some democrats looking for change) who gave him a chance. they were prepared to support him up to a point - and obviously that point is different for different people - but they're starting coming to the point where they're not comfortable defending him. as the cracks develop and blind loyalty to trump doesn't offer the level of impunity it perhaps once did, the depth of the trouble may start to accelerate for the president.

Mmm, tough choice. On the one hand, I'd really love to see trump impeached. On the other, I don't believe internet petitions should be encouraged. They strike me more as an alternative to taking any actual action.
Not that I'm taking any actual action myself other than bitching, but I'm also not letting myself believe I have by signing a petition.
