Which holds true up until the ratio of knowledge is power to the annoyance of you not knowing something becomes imbalanced.

This is a discussion thread on the notion of the unconscious selfish possessiveness of information. Do we truly want to empower others to know what we know or only what we want them to know? I think that it is easier to teach than they make anyone believe.

I think you are asking why it is people can be reluctant pass their knowledge along to other people?

If so, then in a general sense the answer is probably 'insecurity'. Many people enjoy passing knowledge on and find this rewarding, the payoff being respect from the person learning.

Definitely many people guard information jealously. This is probably indicates a lack of confidence in the knowledge hoarder, they may feel that their position relies on exclusive ownership of a relatively small body of knowledge. Presumably they worry that once this is no longer their sole province, they lack the talent/willingness/training to grow themselves further and continue to be of value.

i think i dont understand what he is asking

It is an evolutionary perspective on why some people are apprehensiveness about teaching some people what they know.

I could see how it could be insecurity or it could be information greed.
