Maybe the phrase just killing time is more profound than you think. Here is my take on how it might of all started. Read slowly and think. God said in order for life to exist so did time. So for all of life, time fought with existence. Time always brought an end to existence, but existence always existed. So for the eternity of life, existence killed time and time killed existence. Life may just be the greatest murder story ever written. The beauty found in the irony.

God created us a long with all the angels according to the Bible. We were created from nothing before any 'thing' was.. He is separate from creation as well as in it.

Genesis 1-

What Im getting at is the concept of existence always existed and in order to create life out of existence which was nothing before life....maybe God's first creation was the concept of time. God needed to bring time into exstence so he could create life. If God never created time, God would have never had time to create life. And the same story goes on....we live our lives killing time, until time kills us.

Humans are between the infinite and the finite as Soren Kierkegaard would say. You should check him out if you wanna look at the universe as a Christian existentialist. You would like that stuff given your use of the word "God".

I wasn't aware that referring to God was limited to Christianity. Im not particualry interested in exploring so claimed prophets or saviors. What im tryng to formulate is a basic concept on why life exists. I do believe in an all powerful, all knowing creator but believe religion is not the fact of the matter. Im more interested in exploring the start of it all. I wish I could receive more feedback on my theory between time and existence. My theory is an attempt to explain why life exists and that we come into existence to save existence. Because, Time is of the essence. All of existence must kill time before time kills all of existence.

Have you ever considered that time is a human mental construct, that it is nothing but an illusion?

I have indeed and have psychedelic experiences where I have been outside of reality and time did not exist. But when I look deeper into it I believe time is what constructs this reality we live in. In pure existence I believe there is no such thing. But in this life everything resolves around time. Which makes me wonder, could an eternal afterlife...actually be the reality where time isn't of the essence.

Humans are temporal beings.

What makes us interesting are that we are mental beings in a seemily unmental universe.

And to respond to your theory, I have to ask what you mean by "killing". It seems metaphorical or something.

Read the book Being and Time by Heidegger. It'll knock your sucks off

Time as you call it is really just one long moment "the now" as temporal beings we invent time as a matter of convenience but it dulls our consciousness as we get sucked into the thought and forget that all there ever is is right now.

Without "time" as you call it there would be no growth, you must have ying to have yang and vice versa. Aging and death are of a result of chemical changes that happen within the now, it has nothing to with time really. Forms must die that is just the natural course of thing.

We can transcend it by remembering that the "I" is an illusion that we are life and life is eternal. Remember it is birth and death not life and death. The source of all human suffering is identification with the mind. Your mind is a tool to be used, it is not you!

We are spiritual beings on a human journey... This leg of the journey includes time ;)

Originally, your question got me thinking about the chicken & the egg and...pie!

"If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you first have to invent the universe" Carl Sagan

I'd say we are all a part of something much bigger. The human in me hates that days are numbered but another part of me knows days are...invented.
