This is a really lovely "Hungarian" fish soup that anyone can appreciate and enjoy. Here are the ingredients:

12 Cups of water
1 Fish (Catfish, Cod, or other really mild fish of your choosing. I prefer a fillet.)
2 Cubes of Knorr Fish Boullion
1-2 Green peppers, sliced
1-2 Peeled tomatoes
1 TBSP of Hot Paprika (or less for the wimps. :))
Salt and pepper to taste

Bring the 12 cups of water to a boil, add the two fish cubes. *you add 6 cups per cube*
Bring all this to a nice boil, add fish. Let simmer until fish looks about halfway cooked, careful not to stir up the fish too much, as it'll fall apart in the broth. Add the tomatoes and peppers and the paprika. Bring this to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 30 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Voila! Serve with a nice doughy bread (I prefer a nice loaf of Italian bread from a local bakery.) Makes for a nice light meal that even people who don't care for fish too much can enjoy! (My Dad dislikes fish and tucked into this quite enthusiastically.)

You may as well toss the bones in with it, it will add more flavor and you can strain the leftovers for a nice fish stock.

I like using rosemary foccacia for the bread. It already has olive oil on the outside.

Roast Beef with Horseradish Dill Mayo
Roast beef from the deli
red onions
roasted red peppers
horseradish or sharp cheddar cheese
spinach leaves
horseradish dill mayo (add horseradish, dill ,salt and pepper to taste to Hellmann's mayo)

Preheat the grill while you are getting sandwich ready. Grill until the cheese melts. Remove from grill. Let rest a couple of minutes on a cutting board. Cut and serve.

Chicken, Sundried tomato, and Mozzarella
Ciabatta bread or portugese roll
Sundried tomato pesto or reg pesto
spinach leaves
basil leaves
red onions
red pepper (roasted by you on the press on in a jar if you want)
minced garlic
chicken (the ready to eat strip kind...I loathe Perdue but I like the convenience)
salt and pepper
oregano
fresh mozz cheese

Grilled Tuna panini with wasabi ginger mayo and grilled veg with herbed feta spread to follow....I got those from the Krups recipe book.

túrós csusza

1 bag of egg noodles
12 oz dry cottage cheese/curds
bacon to taste (i use a fair bit, like almost a pound)
1 cup sour cream

boil and drain noodles. cook and crumble bacon. mix sour sour cream in with the bacon and grease. add noodles. add the curds. mix and eat.

i grew up eating this and recently tried it again. i think i was better off forgetting about this dish cause its not exactly healthy and i still really like it :p

^You could try using Smart Bacon or turkey bacon to make it a little healthier. I'm actually thinking about trying it with the Smart Bacon myself. :)

and perhaps plain yogurt for sour cream. i have done that on taters and it is just as good. i just salt it up a bit.

that looks simple and yummy, a good mix.

fat free sour cream
reduced fat cottage cheese
whole wheat egg noodles
reduced fat bacon...not the whole pound

VOILA! Healthier.

i have become addicted to the grande iced mochas in a venti cup light on the ice, and no whipped cream at fucking starbucks. any advice on a good home made recipe?? it has two shots of espresso and 3 pumps of mocha. i don't really want to buy an espresso machine, but will if i gotta. at 4 bucks a day, sometimes 8 i will make it back quickly!! but can it be done with plain ol strong coffee??

DarthMom, check out this thread. Honestly, I think you'd be fine with one of the Bialetti machines for home-made drinks, although you must understand that they will never be quite like the real thing if you don't have a proper espresso machine. That said, you may find the difference negligible and you will definitely save yourself some cash.

thanks, i will be experimenting the next few days. i will just pick up a basic machine and go from there. my biggest worry is just finding a mocha that tastes similar, to be honest. anyone know what brand chocolate syrup(?) they use?

what happened to the index? i was trying to find the post about cooking steak, panfrying it and then finishing in the oven..

Almond Cream of Wheat

Prepare Cream of Wheat with 8oz. water, 2oz. milk, and 4-5 tablespoons Cream of Wheat
Add 4-5 ounces of almond butter and 2-3 teaspoons maple syrup

Large Salad

Mix up enough baby spinach and iceberg lettuce (in equal amounts) for a small to medium size serving bowl
Add onions and a small amount of broken up broccoli heads
Add 2-3oz. Newman's Own Olive Oil & Vinegar salad dressing
Add 2 teaspoons Newman's Own Balsamic Vinaigrette salad dressing
Add a few drops of lime juice

the index is still around, but the last time i tried to edit/ update it the post wouldn't go through. I have it saved offline, but I just tried again and there's still a problem with the system. The admins are aware of the issue; for now you'll unfortunately just have to search the thread for recipes.

or... maybe i can try to copy/paste the index here as a buncha individual posts. i'll give that a shot, to help out with things for the time being. :\

Moved Index pt 1 to initial post

i think the problem is that it has gotten too huge, and goes over the character item limits. *shrugs*

I am a barista- (not at starbucks- i have a serious dislike for them-)
BUT I read online that Starbucks uses the Dolce brand of syrups- Not sure where you live but you should be able to buy syrups directly from stores- (at least around here- coffee shops will sell you the syrup). At the coffee shop I work at we use Hershey's for our Mochas and Davinci (sometimes Torani) for our White Mochas...... So you may try just going to Starbucks and asking to buy a bottle or google Dolce syrups they should have them online. :)

ok, to fix the directory problem, this thread is going to be sent to the archive. the new thread will contain a complete directory, but hold off on posting anything new until i get it all organized. (not that you'll have an option, cuz imma keep shit on lockdown ;) )
